School has started here in Texas! So, it felt appropriate that today's quick Close to My Heart Artbooking Cricut project is this fun teacher gift bag!
Using the real dial size button, I cut all the elements for the bag - see the sizing above. Interestingly enough, even though the apple is layered and usually those don't cut well using real dial size, this one did. I think it's because the layers were exactly the same height so it worked out.
Do you like to make gift bags? Once you start making them, you will find that they are a ton of fun! And very economical as you can get the base gift bags in a big pack from Michaels or Joanns with a 40% off coupon. Multi-packs of the bags come in 5"x8" and 8"x10", in kraft, cream and white colors.I used the Close to My Heart Artbooking cartridge bundle which you can get HERE:

An adorable gift bag!
ReplyDeleteLove the bag. I've never been to a scrapbooking anything. No one I know is into paper crafting so I do everything alone. There was a CKC in Houston in June and I would have loved to go. Then I realized my son was coming in from Florida that weekend so I missed out. That's the closest I've ever come to this kind of event.
ReplyDeleteAdorable, I have not made gift bags, maybe I should:)

Cute bag. I have been to a few retreats with some frineds. It is a fun way to get some projects finished & see what other scrapbookers are doing.
ReplyDeleteDonna K U
Cute bag. Yes I've been on many retreats, although it's been a while! Think it's time for another.

ReplyDeleteVery cute teacher gift bag--love the apple. No I have never been on a scrapbooking retreat.
ReplyDeleteI live close to a Scrapbooking retreat place! I'd love to go. Never been. I hate to leave my babies at home.

What a great gift for a teacher starting her year off!! My one and only retreat is the one you and Tammy hosted - The Stampede in Frisco! That was the most fun I have ever had! Everyone was so nice and willing to help us newbies!! Thanks for a chance to win the cart!
ReplyDeletebdcampers@msn.com
Really cute bag. I need to do this more often. Have never been on a scrapbooking retreat.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a retreat- sounds like a lot of fun but I don't know anyone that would go with me and the idea of trying to pack all my stuff up to take with me is a little daunting!
ReplyDeleteI must say I've never "made" gift bags except to cut "Happy Birthday" or "Merry Christmas" to put on them. Yours are adorable. May have to try that sometime.
ReplyDeleteLove the gift bag. I make my own all the time and actually even make the bags and of course it always impresses everyone! I have never been to a scrapbooking retreat. They are probably a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteVery nice gift bag - never been on a SB retreat but would love to!!!
ReplyDeleteI've been to three Paper Trey Ink Stamp Affaire events--one in Cincinnati held by PTI and two in the home of event hosts. Also when our parents passed away, they left us their house in Louisiana and we frequently go there for weekend clean ups but we reserve at least two days for nothing but crafting and playing with paper. It's so much fun! I know you are going to really enjoy yours... can't wait to hear all about it!!
ReplyDeleteLove your gift bag. Yes< I usually go on three scrapbooking retreats a year. Hopefully I will be able to continue that
ReplyDeleteI've never been on a scrapping retreat, but I have several friends who have & they LOVE them.
ReplyDeleteI want that cart so bad. Love your work. I have a camper that I go to every weekend, I guess you could say that is my SB retreat. But I would love to go to one that has other scrapbookers.
ReplyDeleteThe gift bag is great. I have been on one scrapbooking weekend. Thanks for the chance to win the Create a Friend cart. Lyn
ReplyDeleteHave a great time at your scrapbooking retreat! I went to one this summer and was very productive, over 20 layouts finished (usually I only get about 10 done in a weekend retreat)
ReplyDeleteVERY cool! Yes - I do participate in a scrapcamp. Just one every year - it lasts for four days! I would love to attend more camps, but time is short!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to a scrapbooking retreat. Nor a scrapbooking anything. None of my friends scrapbook, so it makes it kinda hard to have a get together.
ReplyDeleteLove the teacher gift bag! Absolutely adorable! I have never been to a retreat or even a convention...would love to go but it's only me and I'm a big chicken when it comes to traveling to destination events by my self...oh well, I live vicariously through wonderful bloggers like yourself! Thanks for sharing his sweet gift bag.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a scrapbooking retreat yet.
ReplyDeleteI have never been on a retreat. Would love to try one day. I am new to your blog and am loving it!
ReplyDeleteNever been on a scrapbooking retreat although when I made a scrapbook for my daughter, I spent an entire weekend working on it!
ReplyDeleteYes I have been going on one a year for the past five years. It's so wonderful to leave my stuff out and ready to work on (I have no dedicated space at home). It's also been the most fun to get that time to stay connected with friends! We stay up late, laugh a lot, and eat good (bad for you) food. I look forward to it every year. Hope you have fun on yours!

I love to get away for a scrapping retreat. I've been going to one yearly with my local scrapping group for a few years now. I am hoping to go to one in just a couple of weeks, if I can get some logistics nailed down. Thanks for the chance to win this cartridge! It's one I definitely want!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute bag you made. I have never been on a scrapbooking retreat, I am now more into card making now that my child is older.
ReplyDeleteCute bag, must add the new cartridge to my growing collection, no , I have never been on a scrapbooking retreat, but I would love to go...it would be so much fun..thanks so much for all the great ideas...
ReplyDeleteI treated myself to a scrapbooking weekend for my 50th birthday. It was wonderful to be pampered all weekend in a beautiful old Victorian home while having fun scrapping! Have fun when you go!
ReplyDeleteI have always either re-vamped bags for my purpose or bought a 3 pk at the dollar tree but for once just once I feel on top of the game!! Its just way easier now with all the tools... (ie) cricut and carts! Love the bag. I have an 8th grader so we do less and less for the teacher(s) now... but there is always a need for a bag so :)
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a scrapbooking retreat. That would be FUN. I make cards rather than scrapbooking. Roylene
ReplyDeleteWhat a super cute Bag :) I have not ever been on a scrapbooking retreat but sounds like loads of fun!
ReplyDeleteNo but I need to go on one! It might be the only way I can get my daughter's high school album done! She's a senior and I have only completed her freshman year so far.
ReplyDeleteLove the gift bag! I just recently made my first thanks in part to inspiration I received on your blog.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a scrapbooking retreat. Hope you have a great time when you go!
I have not been to a retreat, but I think it would be tons of fun! Joy, once again you created something simple yet beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThe bag is adorable. I have made a few gift bags before, but I don't know why I haven't made more! I have never been on a scrapbook retreat other than a vacation to my friend's house and spending a week scrapping with her.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling gift bag! Even though I've seen dozens of videos and projects that involved gift bags, I have never actually made one myself. I guess I don't think of it "in the moment". But this one is so cute and I love this cartridge, so perhaps the answer is to make the gift bags up ahead of time so they are on hand when I need them. Thanks so much Joy. I love your creativity!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a retreat but have been invited many times. Cute gift bag! There would be many uses for this cartridge! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute gift bag. TFS!
ReplyDeleteWonderful gift bag. Love the super school theme. TFS.

No I haven't but always wanted to go.
ReplyDeleteI love going on scrapbooking retreats, but have not been in years. the new CTMH cart is super cute.
ReplyDeleteThough I've been to crops I've never been on a retreat boo hoo! I am dying to go on one so I'm anxious to hear how yours goes. This new cart is simply delightful, can't help but be all smiles when viewing it!
ReplyDeleteI have been on many retreats...relaxing, no sleep and my best advice...take all your charge cards ;)
ReplyDeleteI love just how dressed up a kraft gift bag can get just from paper and a Cricut cut! I also like that it's a good reason to make bigger cuts too.
ReplyDeleteNo, I've never been on a scrapbooking retreat. If I had more scrappy friends in real life, I might consider going, but I think I'd be too shy otherwise!
Labor Day weekend is a square dance festival so I will be dancing the night away.
ReplyDeleteCute bag!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a retreat. Only a convention and it was super fun!
LOVE scrapbook retreats!! Adorable bag...
ReplyDeleteYes, I've been on scrapbooking retreats, but many years ago. I loved them! I never really got a lot of pages done. I was always too busy bouncing from table to table looking at everyone else's great layouts!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute bag. This cartridge has so much,
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to win,
Mary O'Neal
Love this bag! I have been on many scrapbook retreats. Just went to a three day one last weekend that was so fun. I have another 3 day retreat at the end of Sept. I find I get so much done at these because it is nonstop cropping for three days and you can leave all your stuff out in the room for the entire time.

Attended a scrapbooking retreat just this past weekend. Wonderful time with three of my besties, we snuck out to spend a couple of hours on the lake in sailboat belonging to one of them. Scrapbooking retreats are therapeutic to me. I have a relatively stressful job and life, and getting away from it all (even if it's only 60 miles) keeps me sane. We scrap, giggle, laugh right out loud and give and take advice on our pages. I do much better work when I am together with my friends. "on your mark, get set- CRICUT!" a quote from one of the hubbies who well, just doesn't quite get it! LOL
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a retreat but my first one is in October. I have only been to a handful of day crops and have trouble with what to bring so a weekend might be more than I can handle. LOL.
ReplyDeleteLove the bag! It is so nice when you can personalize a bag to someone. Thanks for the chance.
Yes, I am in a group of 6 ladies that get together 3 times a year to go on scrapbook retreats. That's about the only time I get to work on pages. Love it!!! Have fun on yours! Love the bag!
ReplyDeleteI prefer to go to retreats at our local scrapbook store...If I forget something, I can always pick up what I need. I also like working in small groups at the store.
ReplyDeleteAwww-how adorable!!!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletePatty
I attended a scrapbooking retreat years ago. It was at a hotel; I certainly didn't get enough sleep IMO, so that's something I'd probably do differently b/c I didn't enjoy the retreat as much as I could have: my mind wasn't clear and alert enough to be creative.
ReplyDeleteGreat project! No, sadly I have not been on a scrapbooking retreat but maybe I will get a chance to one day. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't scrapbook, yet, but follow you for your Cricut ideas with cards. Love the artbooking cartridge and think it would be handy for cards, too. Thanks for sharing your creativity!
ReplyDeletePretty bag. I go to 3 or 4 scrapbooking retreats a year but they are close to home so I get to sleep in my own bed each night. I enjoy getting together with friends and meeting new people to scrapbook all weekend.
ReplyDeleteI went to a 3 day scrapbook retreat just last weekend! So much fun!
ReplyDeleteI really need to go stock up on some brown gift bags so I can start making my own! I love all of the examples you've posted recently.
ReplyDeleteThat gift bag is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteI have never been on a scrapbooking retreat, but I'm sure it would be a blast!
I have been on a few scrapbooking weekends and always look forward to the next one. They are a lot of fun! I am hoping to go on one in October!!

I need some healthy recipes for casseroles, my hubby is diabetic and had a recent heart incident requiring a stent. I'm trying to be more creative in cooking. I still love to barbecue! Maybe we could share some casserole recipes. Thanks for all you do for all of us!
ReplyDeleteEvery November my friends and I have a scrapbooking retreat on the opening weekend of deer hunting. In February, we go to a bigger gathering at a campground. I look forward to these weekends all year!
ReplyDeleteNever been on a scrapbook retreat..always wanted to though. Have fun and enjoy yourself!
