Cricut Rock Princess Vinyl T-shirt PLUS Last chance items!

I made a fast "Rock Star" t-shirt for my upline, Noreen, who just achieved the highest level at Close to My Heart - Presidential Director!  She's a rock star to me and our whole team!

I used the Cricut - Rock Princess cartridge and cut this two-layer word art at 6-3/4" using the Cricut regular iron-on vinyl and their glitter vinyl.

Cricut has some great video on applying their iron-on vinyl here - be sure to scroll down to find the video.
Now, I needed a gift bag and card to put these in and so I put these together using the Close to My Heart Skylark paper and complements which retire TODAY!

So, if you are looking for these, head over to my Close to My Heart shopping website HERE today - it's last chance time!!

Speaking of last chance - today is the last day to get these items:
Close to My Heart has announced the product retirement list for the Spring Summer 2014 catalog. These items are on a "while supplies last" type basis so once things sell out, they are GONE! They will not be available after July 31.

Check out the Close to My Heart Product Retirement Items here!

Below are a few stamp sets that are retiring that are some of my favorites. I am sorry to see these go. But these are not all the stamp sets - there are more here.  Also, paper, inks, chipboard items, the bracket frame and more are retiring!

Count Your Blessings:
Glory to God:
Candyland:
Remarkable Wreath:
There will also be a price increase on some items starting August 1!  Take a look below:
Here is the Close to My Heart Stamp of the Month for July - a full alphabet stamp set! Normally, these are $29.95 but this month, it's only $5 with a $50 purchase!  WHOOP!

It's just $5 when you spend $50+ at my Close to My Heart shopping page.

How to Layer Cricut Iron On Vinyl!

Today's T-shirt features layered iron-on vinyl!  It was incredibly easy to do.  Just follow these steps:

1) Iron shirt where vinyl will go for 15-20 seconds using highest, non-steam setting.

2) Place bottom layer of vinyl (yellow star layer in this case) onto shirt, with its plastic backing intact.  Using a iron cloth over it (I used a pillowcase), iron for 15-20 seconds.  Then, turn shirt over and iron the backside for 15-20 seconds.

3) Remove plastic backing from bottom layer.  Carefully, place top layer onto bottom layer, with its plastic backing intact.  Use parchment paper to cover bottom layer and prevent trouble.  Now iron with your iron cloth over both layers for 30 seconds on front.  Turn shirt over and iron with iron for 15-30 seconds.

4) Wait until vinyl cools and remove plastic backing and parchment paper.  Shirt is finished!

One last tip:  You cannot layer on top of the glitter vinyl -that must be the top layer!

The "Rock Star" was cut from the Cricut Rock Princess cartridge at 5".  That cartridge has some great word art that's perfect for iron on vinyl layering.  Here's a link to the handbook: Cricut Rock Princess Handbook

Here are all the cool Iron On Vinyl colors Provo Craft has come out with - they are $12.99 each.

Here's what others have to say about Layout A Day:
“Before I did LOAD I would spend hours on a page. Now because LOAD is on during one of the busiest times at work (16 hour days!) I’m scrapping quicker, not afraid of committing, and best of all using up all my old stash! I’m loving the prompts scrapping stories I wouldn’t have thought of. I’m seeing a style and what I enjoy using on my pages.”-learncreatedo
“I am having SO MUCH FUN with LOAD!!! I’ve been pushed to go beyond what I thought my creative limits were and I can’t thank you enough for that. I look forward to your email every morning and I always want another prompt as soon as I finish my daily challenge. Thank you so much for this awesome challenge; this LOADster is absolutely loving it!!!”-Jennifer.

Hello Thursday! July Cartridges - Simply Charmed, Country Life, Winter Frolic, Happy Hauntings, Rock Princess

It's Hello Thursday again and that means NEW Cricut Cartridges!

The cartridges being released this month are:

Cricut Simply Charmed - whimsical and seasonal!
Cricut Country Life - Farm life extraordinaire!
Cricut Winter Frolic - my new favorite Christmas/Winter cartridge!
Cricut Happy Hauntings - Tricks and treats await!
Cricut - Rock Princess - a teenage girl cartridge!

Something to know about these cartridges:  They all have amazing layered word art - the best yet!  I especially love the Halloween and Christmas word art - every saying is fantastic!

Onto the projects:

Cricut Country Life

The strawberry and "berry sweet" are both from this new cartridge.  The scalloped circles and regular circle are from Mini Monograms.  Paper is by My Minds Eye.  Ribbon by Papertrey Ink.

Cricut Winter Frolic

Non-traditional Christmas colors work great with this bird in a tree! I loved this image the moment I saw it and it paired perfectly with the "noel" word art also on the cartridge!  This is going to be a heavily used cartridge in my house.  I thought nothing could replace Winter Woodland in my heart but this new one has!  Wait until you see the word art!  Love it!

Cricut Happy Hauntings

This cartridge has a whole row of different 3-D projects and I thought this frame was super cute!  I cut it at 7" and just used adhesive along the edges so I could add my photo in later.  It was extremely easy to assemble and I used chipboard for the back layer and for the frame support to give it strength.  The "Boo!" word art was cut at 2".  There is fabulous word art on this cartridge with all kinds of different fonts.  Paper by Basic Grey and DCWV.

Cricut - Rock Princess

I decided to make this word art (she's a firecracker) a little more 4th of July thematic.  It pairs perfectly with the stars images on this cartridge, as well as the "stars" Cuttlebug folder.
