I decided since I did name this blog "Obsessed with Scrapbooking" that I should show some scrapbooking layouts now and then (LOL!). I made this fun retro masculine layout using the retired Close to My Heart Cruisin' Workshop on the Go. I loved this paper the first time I saw it because it is so distinctive and fun! Also, it is great to use for those boy/men layouts - it's so hard to find paper for boys over the age of 5.
I whipped out my Cricut Nifty Fifties cartridge for the main elements on the page. I am particularly fond of gas pumps, as I used to be a construction manager for Mobil Oil and I did a lot of gasoline remodels where we put in new pumps and canopies. This retro pump is so fun! Wondering how I got it to cut those teeny tiny letters that say "gas"? Here's a great trick: Set your blade at 4, pressure at 3, and speed at 1. Then, multicut it two times. Works like a charm!
What better than a Route 66 emblem? I love the funky background shapes on the images on Nifty Fifties. Above, you can also see the stamp "Every Mile a Memory" from the Close to My Heart Workshop on the Go kit. I thought it was a fun addition to the journaling box.
These bottle caps are included in the Cruisin' Workshop on the Go Kit - there were a total of 8 included. I smashed them down with a regular hammer since I couldn't find the rubber mallet (which is the real way to do it...). I am impatient sometimes and rush to finish.
The layout was designed using a sketch from Alison Davis, from Scrapbook Generations. She has a whole series of sketch books that I highly recommend. You can find them HERE.
Here is the new Stamp of the Month for June - it coordinates with the Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge and is so cute for the upcoming Fourth of July!
