Easy Dishwasher Cricut Vinyl Sign Using Word Collage

Do dishes stack up in your sink because no one knows if the dishwasher is clean or dirty?  Never mind that the dishwasher is inches from the sink and could easily be checked.  No one will do it and so the dishes start lining the sink and countertop.  To combat this problem, I created this "clean dirty" laminated magnet sign for my dishwasher.
I decided that the "dirty" would be in green, signaling it's ok to put dishes in the dishwasher; red for the word "clean" would mean stop or don't put dirty dishes into the dishwasher.
In the Cricut Craft Room,  I laid out the clean and dirty wording as shown above so that I could lay out my green and red vinyl easily.  I used vinyl because lining up the words would be so easy this way - just use the transfer tape and it goes on like a dream. The words are actually from the Cricut Word Collage cartridge and I went through and removed the other words using the "hide selected contour" feature.
I used the Cricut Craft Room Basics free cartridge on the Cricut Craft Room for the shaped background.  It measures approximately 6" x 8". I wanted the sign nice and big so there would be no chance of mis-reading it.  LOL!
I used the Provo Craft Your Story laminating machine to laminate the sign and keep it clean.  I used scissors to cut around the shape.
Finally, after laminating, I added strips of magnet material to the back of the sign.

Salad in a Jar with Cricut Chalkboard Vinyl

I saw someone on Facebook put up a link about salad in a jar and wondered what that was all about.  Next thing I knew, I'm watching youtube videos on how to do it, ordering accessories for my food saver and hurrying to the store for produce and jars.

My interest in the salad in a jar concept came because the salad is supposed to stay fresh up to a week after it's been sealed in a jar.  I can never get cut salad to stay fresh.  Plus I thought the salad looked cool in the jar...LOL!  And it's a quick meal, immediately ready!

For much cooler pictures of salad in a jar, recipes and instructions, check out Salad in a Jar and Healthy, Happy Life (it's vegan but you can substitute meat things if you like).

I decided to use my Cricut machine and the new Cricut chalkboard vinyl to make some labels to go onto the jars so I could label and date them.

I cut the labels (scalloped and regular circles) at 2.5" and 2.25" from the Cricut Craft Room Basics free set of images. I layered the chalkboard layer onto the regular vinyl layer.

I'm not too concerned about it holding up as I have plastic cups with vinyl on them that I made two years ago that look new.  And I wash those in the dishwasher all the time.

A couple things about the Cricut chalkboard vinyl:  It needs be cut at pressure of 4 and blade depth of 4, speed at 3.  Also, it comes with a sheet of transfer tape in the package (woo hoo!).

After working on taking photos of food, I have a newfound respect for those food bloggers...it's really hard!  I can't wait to get back to photographing paper projects..hee hee!

Are you going to try "salad in a jar"?

Today's Easter card was so fun to put together!  I have been dying to cut out this bunny from the Cricut Easter Magic digital cartridge - isn't he cute?  And the digital banner cartridge makes such cute looking banners really quickly!  It was very easy to size the banner and get it stamped correctly using the Cricut Craft Room (click HERE for more info on Cricut Craft Room, Provo Craft's free online design tool).
Cricut Easter Magic and Banners are both digital cartridges, retail for $9.99 and can be purchased HERE.  They can be used with the Cricut Craft Room or the Gypsy.

For the base of the card, I used the Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge.  It is my go to cartridge for card bases - very versatile!  It also has loads of cute word art and animals.  For the oval shapes (regular and scalloped), I used the Cricut Craft Room Basics, free on the Craft Room.  I laid out all my shapes to make sure they were proportioned correctly and then cut them.  Designing this way saves a lot of time and paper waste - also I can do it while I am watching a movie!  Bonus!
The "You're egg-straordinary" stamp is from My Creative Time's new Easter set called Happy Hunting (click HERE to purchase):

Check it out below:
Did you guys catch the wicker looking background on the egg?  That's a new Cuttlebug folder called Wicker Weave and it's 5x7.  It also comes with a matching wicker border for your envelope. I love how it dresses the card up without overwhelming it.  It is promising to be a new favorite!

Let me know below if you are submitting to Jinger's team - it looks amazing!
