St. Patty's Day Cricut Card

Here's a fun St. Patty's Day card for you!  Actually, you could send this anytime someone had something good happen to them.

I can't believe how fast March is flying by and the holidays are just stacked up against one another.  Two weeks until Easter!  YIKES!
I love this fun Leprechaun from the Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge.  If you are a fan of the Create a Critter cartridge, I suggest you check out Simply Charmed because it's got lots of cute images and sayings.  LOVE IT!

Cuts:
- Leprechaun - From Cricut Simply Charmed Cartridge cut at 3.5"
- "Lucky Day" - From the Cricut Stamping Cartridge cut at 1.25"
- Scalloped Circle card - From Cricut Life's A Party cartridge cut at 5.5"
- Inner yellow Circle - From Cricut Plantin' Schoolbook Cartridge cut at 5"
I tried to get this side view so that you could see that the dark green is actually glitter paper. I also used some Stickles on the buckle and coat.  My friend Lisa LOVES Stickles and has shown me the light of how much they can enhance a project.  This one's for you, Lisa!

I admit that I messed up the gold Stickle section by getting it inside the buckle part.  So, after I tried to scrape it off, which didn't work, I pulled out my black Stickles and put a big glob in the center so it looked good again.

Check out the Close to My Heart March stamp of the month above!  Super cute and just $5 after a $50+ purchase at joytracey.ctmh.com!

  3. Great St. Patrick's Day Card, so cute. Yes I use Stickles. I have two nieces expecting babies and as part of their gift I make their thank you cards (25-30 each!) and use Stickles on all of them. It always adds just the right touch and sparkle.

  4. Very cute card. I use stickles on many cards. My main advice is to give it time to dry before handling.

  13. Love your card! I have used Stickles but only in small amounts. Like you, I have messed up projects and get frustrated when that happens, since Stickles is usually the last step for me! I like Liquid Pearls better- not the same effect, but adds an extra touch and I feel I can control them better!!

  14. I love Stickles!!!! I use them every chance I get to give my projects a little more "WOW" But my only problem is, if I am making a lot of the same card , say like for Christmas or any other Holiday, and I have to let the Stickles dry before I can stack them or place them in the envelope. I tend to run out of space to lay them to dry. So, I take my heat tool for embossing and I heat up the Stickles a bit and dry them a little faster. That's my little tip when using the Stickles. Awesome card this week by the way! Lol love it!!!! Thanks for the chance to win.

  22. I have tons of Stickles, but haven't used them in a long time - my daughter likes to use them. The only advice I have is- use them last on your project and let them dry-overnight if possible!

  23. I recently bought a package of 3, but I have not used them yet.

  24. I have used stickles, but not for awhile. Let it dry over night before placing a page in a protector.

  25. That's adorable! You did a great job covering up the stray Stickles!

  28. I love stickles, use them a lot, sparingly - that's my tip! I also love Liquid Pearls, Wink of Stella, as well as Smooch. I do love shiny and sparkly!

  29. I think you must be mixing April 20th with March 20th for the date of Easter. We've got about 5 weeks, thank goodness! I haven't even started on my Easter cards yet!!! And to be sure, I'll be using Stickles on them. I like using small amounts of Stickles. If I want an entire glittery surface on an image and don't have glitter cardstock, I usually go with spray adhesive or my Xyron and actual glitter. Recently, I got a tiny ink smudge near a "Happy Birthday" sentiment inside a card, so I took some gold Stickles and made Stickle dots all around the sentiment. It looked purposeful and fun--and more importantly, covered up my smudge!

  30. I just love to use stickles for the inside of flowers --it really makes them stand out. I love the round card for St. PATTY DAY -----Nancy

  31. I havenn't used any Stickles yet, but would like to soon. Your card is just too cute. Thanks.

  32. I use stickles but not as much as I'm using the Wink of Stella glitter pen. The pen works better for me than the stickles. I always seem to get stickles too thick on my project. Thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them.

  33. I sometimes use stickles and sometimes a glaze pen. Thanks for sharing your videos with us.

  34. Love this card. and I love Stickles (applied with my fingertips) to add just a nice sparkle to projects. And yes, thank goodness we have 5 weeks until Easter, which is April 20.

  35. Thanks for offering this giveaway, Joy!! I love Stickles. I think the best tip I can offer on using it is to tell others to be sure and do a "test dot" on another piece of paper before using it each time. The only real problem I encounter with Stickles is that I often get a "blob" of glitter on my project if I don't do the "test dot" first. (I do agree with Wanda M. above though... Wink of Stella pens are the BOMB!)! :)

  43. Hi Joy, Easter is actually April 20th, not March 20th so you have plenty of time! I love this card, so cute. And I use stickles all the time. My tip is to store them upside down, then you will always get a nice flow out of the bottle. Before when I stored them upright I would sometimes get a big blob on my page.

  51. I think you must be using a different calendar than me. Easter is in April this year-2014! I think stickles make a mess but I did appreciate some of the tips that your commenters left so am going to try to use them again. Cute card.

  52. Love the St. Patty's leprechaun. He makes me smile. Yes, I love Stickles. They add a great touch of sparkle to your projects. Yes, you do need to allow time to dry. Also, if you want good dots, remember to do a clockwise rotation as you ease off pressure. I find it makes the dots more rounded and you don't get little peaks on them then. Thanks for your great giveaways.

  53. Cute card, trying to think how I can use this with my cake cutter from Circuit. Stickles can be tricky lay it on too thick and it will warp - go in with a light hand. Store them upside down (bed bath and beyond has trays for lipsticks that will hold 10/12 with caps on for about $8), this makes sure you don't get any air bubbles in your spread.

  54. Cute cute card! I use Stickles on everything! My hubby made me a wood Stickles holder...it has 38 holes in it and I store the Stickles upside down...never had a clogging problem yet!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Biggest advice for Stickles - give it lots of time to dry or it will smear and ruin your card. I've used cheaper glitter glue and there doesn't seem to be much difference. Yes - cute little guy.

  56. STICKLES! Do I love Stickles. They are great to use to add a bit of Jazz to any project. Of course I really like things that sparkle and glitter, so the more the better. I like to use them for eyeshadow on faces that I make for my cards, or to make flowers pop. Anytime I don't want things to look BLAH out come the stickles. Ditto on lots of drying time.
Thank you for all the great ideas and the chance to win such a cute cartridge. Marie in Idaho
