One of my roommates at the CTMH Convention (Rema) made a card like this and it was amazing - I had to figure out how she did it!
Here are some close ups of the card:
Above you can see the card opened up - plenty of room to write a Christmas message.
The card above is a little different than the red stamped one - I added a border and some red stickles (glitter glue). My friend Lisa S. LOVES stickles and tells me that they always enhance a project and she's right! I just get impatient waiting for it to dry...
I used the new October Close to My Heart Scandanavian Wishes stamp set and this cut from the Close to My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge (shown below):

Both colors are great, but the red says cheer to me. Thanks for sharing and the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI love both of them
ReplyDeleteFantastic cards, I love the fold. The red looks happier.
ReplyDeleteI like the red stamped image but like the extras on the other card. They are lovely
ReplyDeleteYou make everything look so easy and inviting!!! I like both cards, but if I had to chose, I would choose the brown one.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I like both cards, but if I had to choose I'd pick the brown one. Thanks for the great tutorial!
ReplyDeleteLove the cards! I think I prefer the brown image, but would like to see it on the other cards' background papers - not an option huh? HAHA!
ReplyDeleteI think I like the red card better from the pics but like the extra on the brown card.
ReplyDeleteMel's Mom

Love these cards and thanks for the video tutorial! I'll definitely be trying out making cards similar to this. I like the brown stamped card better, only because I like the little extra on the inside of the card. They're both wonderful.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the red stamped image. Love the card! Thanks for sharing this technique and the opportunity to win this cartridge!!!
ReplyDeleteI really think it's a toss up this time - I prefer the brown inking, but like the brightness of the other card. both are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteFor the holidays, I like the red.
ReplyDeleteI like them both, but the brown stands out more to me with red heart.
ReplyDeleteThe red one reminds me more of all things Scandinavian. I am going to try this fold out on a couple of cards I am doing today. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love them both but I have a thing for gold/red @ Christmas & I honestly thought the brown was gold! LOVE the RED heart as it gives the whole thing just the POP it needed! What a great shaped card for the holidays!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very neat card. I think I like the brown house better, tying the mat color into the rest of the design. The stickles were a perfect touch!
ReplyDeleteI love that card! The red is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteHands down Joy I luv, luv the red stamped image! Love this awesome card design! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove this card. The red is my favorite. Have a fun day.
ReplyDeleteI am liking the red one better, just a little brighter for Christmas cheer.
ReplyDeleteI'm voting red, but it is my favorite color, so I'm kind of biased....
ReplyDeleteI love the brown! I've been crazy about brown lately!
ReplyDeleteI love the brown! I've been crazy about brown lately!
ReplyDeleteI like the brown. I just gives it a different look. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLuria
HI I love that it looks so complicated but really isn't. Great card! Laurie from NFGP.
ReplyDeleteI like the brown. It adds another dimension and makes the deer look more realistic. The card looks a little more homey with the brown.
ReplyDeleteDebbie Furtney
At first I was going to say red because it being a christmas color but after looking again I think definately brown. The brown is more realistic for the deer and also it makes it pop.
ReplyDeleteRED
ReplyDeleteHi Joy,
ReplyDeleteLove the Red one, for me it just says Christmas.
Boy, that's a hard decision. I like the brown one because it enhances the deer and detail, but I also like the red one because it's more "Christmasy" and Scandinavian. I guess I'll just call it a tie. Thanks for the video instructions. It makes a difficult project much more tempting to make.
ReplyDeleteI have to go with the Red, but that's just because I like the traditional colors. That card looks complicated, but your instructions look like it'll be easy afterall. thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteI like them both, but the brown stands out more! TFS!
ReplyDeletebdcampers@msn.com
The red border on the brown card did it for me.
ReplyDeleteTough decision - but I'll go with the red because it's a Christmas Card and that's the traditional coloring on that card. I have a friend who would love a card like that with the Scandinavian "flavor". Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteElaine S.
Red stamped because it looks more Christmas-y. I did one like that - the front of the
ReplyDeletegate card was Santa and Christmas decorations etc. but if you turn it around
the Nativity scene is on the back. Since it is made that way you can make
it look two sided. Turned out great and all my kids want one.
Love your card! Yes, look difficult to make but isn't so that makes it extra cool, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletegreat card. I like both but I think red wins.
ReplyDeleteLove your card and the awesome fold. Thanks for making it so easy for us. Look forward to trying it.
ReplyDeleteI vote red. The stamping outside, but also the stamping inside, make the card.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards are great, but I think I like the brown one better with the red heart. I just love gate fold cards. Keep up the great ideas, thanks!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a gorgeous card. I prefer the red stamped image but they are both beautiful.

ReplyDeleteFrom Lizette
Great fold. I like the red one a little better.
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE this card fold...awesome! I think both cards are great just the way you did them. I would be thrilled with either one in my mailbox ;) It's funny, but both look Scandinavian in either color. I think I'm remembering a brown sweater my brother had...maybe that's why it appeals to me too.Your paper choices are always right on and the stickled heart was the perfect touch!
ReplyDelete{{hugs}} Beth Anne
I like the brown better- stands out more. Thanks for sharing. I will have to try this card!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are beautiful. I do prefer the brown with the glittery red heart.
ReplyDeleteI like both of them. If I had to choose one, it would be the red one.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Joy, as always :) Boy, you know I like them both. At first I liked the red one best just because I am such a tradionalist when it comes to Christmas colors (red and green), but after taking a second look, I kinda like the brown one just because of the "extras" plus I like the red heart above the deer. That pop of red I think makes the brown color go with the other colors.
ReplyDeleteI live the red better, looks more festive!
ReplyDeleteEach day I'm delighted to see the great ideas with these carts! Especially since I have them! yay! thanks - loving the videos really!
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful but I like the red the best. Lovely video!

Very cool card! To your question - normally, I'd say red because that's my favorite scrappy/stamping color...but with the reds/greens of the card, I think the brown is a nice contrast. Both versions are great!
ReplyDeleteBrown stamped...the contrasts are very nice!

Brown
ReplyDeleteI like the brown best. Here in Australia it is very hot at Christmas time so there is not much green but a lot of brown and Khaki so this card is definitely more in keeping with our sunburnt country!

ReplyDeletethis is a tough decision....but...i chose the brown one.

ReplyDeleteI think I like the brown better. They are both beautiful! Thank you for showing us how to make them.
ReplyDeleteLove this card! Just made it as a Congrats on your new house! card. I'll post it in a day or two.
ReplyDeleteYour red stamped house is my fav, but I'm in canada so I won't enter. Just wanted to mention the dimensions of the inside white and brown cardstock layers were transposed. Thanks so much for the awesome inspiration!
Both are lovely, but I prefer the brown
ReplyDeleteThe red one really pops!
ReplyDeleteGreat card, the red really seems to pop!

ReplyDeleteLove this card! Can't decide between buying the Artiste or Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge (I"m a CTMH consultant too) but this little house cut just about sways me to the A.P.! I love the one stamped with red as is more traditional and I just LOVE red and green for Christmas colors. Thanks for the chance to win this awesome Cricut set!
ReplyDeleteMarilyn at pinkpapercottage@yahoo.com
I love the red the most, though the brown is nice, too. I have a question, how / where do you buy the paper mat pad you were working on? It is a great idea!!! Thanks!
