Today's 5"x 5" card comes from the super cute Creative Holiday Cards Cricut cartridge!
Check out the Creative Holiday Cards Cricut cartridge below:
To find out more about this cartridge, head over HERE.
For starters, this cartridge uses the universal overlay shown below:
As you can see in the handbook below, each card has the keys listed below it that you will need to press. Those keys correspond to the universal overlay shown above:
So, for our ornament card, we use key 31 to cut the card. Then, press the "F1" key then key 31 to get the inside layer. In the red oval, we are told what size to cut these at. I cut them at those different sizes to also make the front layers. The envelope is key 32 and cut at 5" - it matches all the cards on this page.
To get the ornament layers, I pressed key 37 and then F1 and key 37. Then to get the ornament overlays, I pressed key 38.
Making sense?
Above is the inside of the card.
The "HoHoHo" and the "Happy Holidays" is from the Close to My Heart Perfect Fit - Holidays stamp set (so much fun for just $9.95 - see HERE for more details):
The paper used is the Close to My Heart Sparkle and Shine paper pack (see HERE for more info):

New Giveaway is the Cricut Botanicals Cartridge:
How can you win?
1) Leave a comment below - Does the new overlay and handbook make sense? Do you like it better than the old way?
Click HERE if you don't know how to leave a comment. Click HERE to leave a comment if you are seeing this in an email.
2) That's it!
Winner will be announced on November 3, 2013 and has two weeks to claim prize. U.S. Residents only, please, over 18. Void where prohibited.
Only a few days left to get the Close to My Heart October Stamp of the Month:
October's Stamp of the Month, Scandinavian Wishes, is just $5 after a qualifying $50 purchase!
Got to have it? Check out the catalog below to find some fun products!
And a fabulous new promo to go with it! (see below):
These items above all have a star in the Holiday Guide, reminding you that they are part of the promo. Of course, these are also available for purchase (wink).
The $100 must be spent on full retail priced products so "while supplies last" and discounted stamp of the month products do not count towards that total (SORRY!).
When you place your order HERE, the system will prompt you upon checkout to pick out your free/star item(s)! Wait until the system prompts you and then click on their link to add your items.
The star items shown above can be found HERE under the "Holidays From the Heart Gift Guide 2013" tab on the left hand column down at the bottom.
You can also download a PDF of the catalog HERE.
Or I can send you one - just email me at joyster110@gmail.com with your address and I'll send one right out to you!

I guess I will get used to this new universal overlay, but I think I like the old way of each cartridge having its own overlay. That said, I really enjoyed your video demo. That is such a cute card. I love how the envelopes match up. the cards.
ReplyDeleteI have not used the overlay, I use my Gypsy for everything right now. Love your videos.

Love the card - I have this cartridge but haven't used it. I am not sure I really like the new overlay. have used it a few times but have made a few cutting mistakes because of it. But it has to be used with the new carts.
ReplyDeleteThe overlay looks like a great idea. Will all new cartridges be coming this way now? The ornaments cards are great.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Cute card! I'm not sure if the new overlay would be as easy to use as the overlays that came with the old cartridges were. I haven't actually used one yet; I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
ReplyDeleteLove that card! Thanks for the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to try the new cricut carts with those overlays. I love your card though.

Love the card. I understand the new overlay because you make it look easy. Haven't tried it yet. I just think it is hard to change but once you get use to it I'm sure it will make sense. Have a fun day!
ReplyDeleteLove the card and the new Square1 vinyl. Thanks for sharing such wonder ideas and products with us.
ReplyDeleteThat is a really pretty card! I'm still not sure about the new overlay. I think I like the old ones better but it could be because I have not used the new one too much yet.
ReplyDeleteLeslie
I love that paper too! I don't really use overlays. I use my Gypsy still. I just find it more convenient. Do you still use your Gypsy or just the Craftroom now?
ReplyDeleteI too love your card, but I live anything you create! The overlay... All I can say is, it's taking some time to get used to the way it works.. Trial and error is the tactic I always go with until I learn something new!

ReplyDeleteVery nice card, will have to try the overlay. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI only have one cartridge with the new overlay. It does make sense but since I always use my Gypsy to create designs I really don't use the overlay.
ReplyDeleteI love your ornament card - the dotted paper background makes it even more festive!
Lin M.
I have not tried the new overlay yet, so cannot comment at this time. Thanks for the chance to win!

ReplyDeleteLove the card and the Holiday Card cartridges(s), however honestly, not keen on the Universal Overlay. I am sure, like anything else, I will get used to it. Once again Joy, thanks for all the inspiration! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your cards. Now that Halloween is over I can start on my Christmas cards.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any cartridges with the universal overlay so I can't comment on whether I like it. I do like the idea of storing less overlays!
ReplyDeleteI love all your card! Thumbs up for the holiday cart.
ReplyDeleteThe overlay makes sense, but I'm used to the old ones and I also love the fact that with the older version, I don't need the book to figure out what buttons to push for a cut: I just look for the picture on the overlay.
ReplyDeleteThanks, J Perry
