I was looking at the Close to My Heart catalog and they have some pretty ornaments in it. I wondered if I could make them into a 3-D ornament and here's the result!
All of this was cut using the Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut cartridge. See the sizing below:
Now, this project only requires two sheets of green, two sheets of cream and one sheet of red cardstock.
I will tell you this takes a little bit of time to make. But much of that time is just letting the machine cut out the ornament pieces.
Here's another view of it hanging on a metal decorative ornament tree I have.
Check out the video below on how to make this 3-D Ornament (click HERE if you can't see the video):

Joy, that is a beautiful ornament! Loved your video! I have only made glass ornaments and cut out vinyl guests' names with the Cricut, and adhered them to the glass. After adorning them with satin ribbon and little snowflake embellishments on wire, I used them for place cards at the Christmas table. Your ornaments are so pretty and festive. they would be lovely on a tree, at a place setting, or on a gift. TFS!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winner of the Baby Steps cartridge...love that she is sooo excited about her grandbaby! I have used my Cricut to make ornaments. I did the glitter ornaments with vinyl names one year and also did the clear acetate sheets with snowmen that I put inside clear ornaments.
ReplyDeleteYour ornament is so gorgeous!! I love the tulle and the delicate look of it!

ReplyDeletecricut on a couple of my ornaments.
I've never made a Christmas ornament with my Cricut but you inspire me to do so. Really enjoyed this video. Great instructions
ReplyDeleteI have never made an ornament with my cricut. I just loved this idea! Every year I say I am going to make my own Christmas cards and this is just the idea for this year. I love that the recipient can use the ornament on their tree or maybe even as a gift decoration. Thanks so much for the awesome idea/demonstration!!

Yes I have made ornaments with my cricut.
ReplyDeletethey are very pretty would look nice on a gift instead of a bow
ReplyDeleteIf you get hot glue strings on a project use a hair dryer or heat gun to melt them away. They magically disappear.
ReplyDeleteLove the ornament and cannot wait to make one. Thank you for the great video tutorials.
ReplyDeleteI have made many ornaments for the tree over the years but have never used the Cricut to make them. I am going to make these this year. Actually it is a tradition in our family to see what I am going to make each year. By the time my kids got married they had enough ornaments to decorate their own trees. Have a fun day!
ReplyDeleteI have never made an ornament with my cricut, although I have made ornaments and usually make one for my sisters, but I'm making something different this year. This is a beautiful ornament and I will have to keep this in mind for next year.
ReplyDeleteI've never made any ornaments with the Cricut, but I may have to after seeing some of these fabulous ones!
ReplyDeleteBefore I got the Artiste cartridge I only made snowflakes with the other CTMH cartridges. Don't know how you could be apologetic for your video being too long! I thought it was amazing how you quickly and informatively you put it together. It is beautiful and I will be making many soon. There's another similar design on the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge I'm going to try also. Thanks Joy. rosebud114
ReplyDeleteJust a beautiful project!!!!! You inspire me!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your great ideas.
I have never made an ornament but after seeing yours I want to make some. Simply georgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI have made many ornaments similar to this one with my Cricut. They are great and can be a fun group project as I have done. I like the tulle addition you added and rosette. Very pretty. TFS. Shelly
ReplyDeleteSimple beautiful. I have never made an 'ornament' with my cricut but I think this are great for anything not just a tree. Can hang it on a gift bag for sure. I have been out of the loop for many months and happy to be back during this favorite time - Fall/Winter Holidays. I need ideas so loving it all.
ReplyDeleteI have not - we have quite the Hallmark ornament collection!
ReplyDeleteOOOh the cart looks great, yes I have made ornaments with the cricut....
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Jill! Enjoy your new cartridge!
ReplyDeleteThe ornament is gorgeous! I haven't made any with my Cricut, but you have inspired me to try. Thanks for the great tutorial!
I absolutely love the ornament!! I cannot wait to make one of these. My friends and I have an ornament exchange every year at christmas and I may get energetic and make one for each! WOW
ReplyDeleteWe also do scrapbooking at retreats and share our Cricut cartridges. Such fun and we think our pages turn out better when we are all together.
I would love to win the Snowfolks Cricut cartridge to share with my best friends. This cartridge is so unique and is winter rather than Christmas. Because my children are teens now, so much of the Christmas isn't, well, at their age level any more. They aren't up for the cutesy holiday decorations but still enjoy the winter. Thanks for a great blog!!
I didn't think your vids could get any better. WOW. I love the ornament! Your directions are clear. I had to play it over to get the sizes.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about getting this cartridge and after seeing this beautiful ornament I am doing it!
ReplyDeleteAndreaGen

ReplyDeleteHi Joy! Yes, I have made ornaments with my Cricut. Mostly make them for church during the holidays...so fun! I like to glitter them up! It's also fun to make them and add them to packages or add them to the inside of a greeting card as a little surprise ( of course those in the cards are to be flat...LOL!).
ReplyDeleteChris P from Bryan, Tx
I love the ornament. I have used ornaments in the past but yours is great.
ReplyDeleteDarling- I must try this! It would take a while to cut all those pieces. I must try when I get my cart! I have made flat snowflake ornaments with my cricut.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I'd like to say CONGRATS to the lucky winner of the Baby Steps Cartridge, and her precious grandson!
ReplyDeleteNope, I've never made ornaments w my cricut, but sooooo want to!!! I'm new to cricut and I'm still learning the 'how to do' of it! I dooo soooo love it and really want to make my Christmas over with it this year! Sooo excited!
I need to win some cartridges tho, so I have more projects to be able to do!!!!! Good luck to everybody!
Thank you for giving us all a chance at your wonderful giveaways!
You're The Best!!!
I love that ornament! Stampin Up did something similar last year but you had to cut each one with a die. That would be tedious. So much easier and faster to let the Cricut do all the cutting. I will have to say CTMH cricut cartdridges have a lot of content on them. Put the price stops me. I wouldn't turn one down it I won one though. :) Put I never see any on a drawing. ;(

ReplyDeleteLoved your video! Beautiful ornament! I used those same ornaments last year for To and From labels. I will try the ornament this year! Thanks for the beautiful idea!!

I've made a few ornaments but I use the vinyl on the plastic ball ones. I honestly had thought about trying anything else. But your ornament has certainly inspired me.....
ReplyDeleteHello Joy,
ReplyDeleteThis was a great video not long at all. Thanks for sharing your talents.

Oh Joy - how beautiful! I almost forgot about the 3D ornaments on the cart - and that's why I bought it several years ago! There are so many images on the Artiste and Art Philosophy carts that I've used time and again for all sorts of cards. Thanks so much for sharing. As I'm looking at this I'm wondering...hmmm. I'm in fb group where I've started at "Christmas gift tag" share - where several of us are making gift tags to send each other and all my extras will go on gifts for residents at a geriatric center. I'd love to make some of these as an extra gift for my group members - just wonder how many boxes I'd have to have to ship them so they'd arrive safely since the tags could go in envelopes with no problem. Maybe I'll go box hunting - ha!
ReplyDeleteI have made a few ornaments but they never seem to look as pretty as the ones u make. Thx for the how to videos it really helps a person like me that is some what new at these sorta things. Thx for the chance to win. Hope I win I could use it my crafting supplies are very few....
