Today's card uses the Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut cartridge and the Cuttlebug to create a "knitted" mitten look.
Using the Cuttlebug Fabric Swatches set (click HERE to see more about this set), I was able to create a "knitted" look to the mittens. Take a closer look below:
I used the cut below from the Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut cartridge and the Holiday Tags stamp set to make the sentiment.

Not that it was my "favorite" but it was the most "memorable". Remember a few years back with mad cow disease was all over the news? Well I waited till the last minute to find a costume that year and all they had in my size was a cow. So I dressed like a cow with mad cow disease. Needless to say, I had a few gawkers that year.....
ReplyDeletevery cute
ReplyDeleteWe won a contest for adults that year - I was a gypsy and my husband was the hunchback. it was fun. Your card is beautiful and colors are great. Embossed made it all even better.
ReplyDeleteI went as a bunch of grapes last year. Best costume ever!!
ReplyDeleteI went as a witch riding on a ghost, it was an inflatable costume.

Most memorable and favorite as a child... I went as a Princess. The only problem is my mom was still sewing it as trick or treat started... I was frantic! But it turned out great and I loved it.

My most favorite costume was Queen of Egypt,, Wore it to my sisters Halloween party,,, Great memories!!!
ReplyDeleteWe square dance and one year all our friends dressed up as Zombies for our dance. I was a square dance zombie...My costume had a stake in my heart. It was a blast.
ReplyDeletePretty card.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter loves giraffes. So I made her a giraffe costume that she wanted to wear 2 years in a row and now it will fit little sister! This was my 1st attempt at making a costume and was super proud of myself.
ReplyDeleteI dress up as a female Pirate of course since I'm a fan of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. Like the knitted look of the mitten.

I love making costumes but I can't sew. I used sew glue. Works awesome! A little tricky but after I got the hang of it, I made so many costumes over the years when my kids were little. They even play with them after the 31st or after a school play. You can wash them but NEVER put sew glue items in the dryer. Now granted my costumes were not real fancy but my kids like them and of course, that's all that matter.
ReplyDeleteI like that you embossed the mittens, that little extra touch made for a very nice card.
I went as Little Red Riding Hood and brother went as the Wolf when we were kids. Great card and I so love that little snowman!! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteWow, those are great papers! How fun! Thanks for another fun video!
ReplyDeleteThis card is great. Love the embossing.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in 6th grade I tied for 1st place. I was a farmer. I had a clear mask, overalls and big rubber bare feet. The other winner was a grandfather clock.
Have made so many costumes for our 6 kids but my favorites were the ones I made for my husband and myself many years ago. He was a soda jerk and I was a waitress from the 50's. Our kids still laugh about those. Love the texture on the mittens.
ReplyDeleteThis card is wonderful! At first glance, even before I read the article and watched the video, my first thought was "Oh, the mittens are great!" because I loved the textured look. I don't have these embossing folders but they are definitely going on my wish list.
ReplyDeleteFavorite Halloween Costume? Has to be a clown costume I made for my sons eons and eons ago. He just loved it and wore it for two Halloweens before he outgrew it.
Cute card! Love the embossing! TFS
ReplyDeleteGreat looking card!
ReplyDeleteAs the youngest of 5, I was never permitted to go trick or treating. I have never worn a Halloween costume. As a result, when I had children, I made their costumes. I think my favorite was making them Oreo cookies. It is still the most talked about costume next to the M & M costumes I made them.
ReplyDeleteLove your tutorials! Love to win, too.
ReplyDeleteMy fav Halloween costume has to be when I dressed myself up as a military man! Nobody knew who I was and I was with my boys and everybody thought I was just one of their friends!!!! I had green an black makeup all over my face with my hair up in a cap! It was cool!!
ReplyDeleteI really can't pick out a favorite costume, maybe the witch one I wore several years ago.
ReplyDeleteI love the cute mittens card, that is the perfect embossing folder for them. Good job.
Very cute card--I like the embossed mittens.
ReplyDeleteFavorite costume was a bum.
Love this card super cute. And I also love the cuttlebug folder.

When I was about 5 or 6 my mom made me a tutu out of blue crepe paper. By the end of the evening it was tattered and my legs were blue from the color running but I loved it. Also love the mittens card. Thank you, Jill P. Manteca, CA
ReplyDeleteMy very favorite costume was Raggedy Ann which I now know my mom labored long and hard to make for me in first grade (1958!!!). She even made me a full head wig of rust red yarn. I had the best costume that year and I'll never forget how fun it was or the love my mom put into it!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's 1960 and I'm 10 years old...I was a beatnik. (do you even know what that is?)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite costume was when I was Casper the Friendly Ghost back when costumes came in a box... The robe was glow in the dark! :)
ReplyDeleteI looked for "Tulip" ink on the CTMH website. If it is no longer available, is there another color that is close to Tulip that you would recommend?? Appreciate your videos - and ALWAYS love your project! Thanks!
When my kids were little the whole family dressed up as clowns; I know how to make a few balloon animals and we had a fine time at a big church party. Thanks for another great card idea.
ReplyDeleteI just love watching your videos! I've followed your blog for years now (back when I didn't really know what a blog was), and I can say that since you started making videos, I feel more like I can make what you make now. I love seeing your techniques and your tips are very helpful!
ReplyDeleteI love the mitten card - so cute! My favorite Halloween costume was dressing up as the Queen of Hearts. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteYour posts are always so inspirational! I would have never thought to texture the mittens.
ReplyDeleteI'm so new to this I'm green as grass... Luv your designs and tutorial's you make things so much clearer for me and give me confidence to start making...Still cnt figure outb how to leave a comment for your prize draws though LOL..Newbe Raine
ReplyDeleteThat card is beautiful! Thanks for the video on how to make it. I love the embossing on the mittens. My favorite costume was when I was 6 and my mom made me a Raggedy Ann costume. I still love Raggedy Ann and Andy to this day!

My absolute favorite Halloween costume was when my husband & I went as a light and light socket! It actually worked. He wore a miners lamp on the top of his head, and I was the socket, with the battery pack, and he was the plug. When he stuck the electric plug into my costume (the outlet), the light really light up. How much fun we had with that costume.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance the win this wonderful cartridge!
hugs
Patty
Adorable card and not too difficult! Great ideas, Joy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card!! Years ago I made a witch outfit and glued on that that awful nose and chin, then put on that green makeup..

My favorite costume was the "whale" that swallowed Jonah. So much fun made out of a large trash bag, lots of pillows and a huge mouth with sharp (cardboard) teeth. What fun!
ReplyDeleteThe mitten card is awesome. Thanks for the video instructions.
Beautiful card! My favorite Halloween custom would be Wednesday from the Adams family.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Veronica
My favorite Halloween costume was Beauty and the Beast Elvira style. The beast has an Possessed unicorn with an all white fur suit equipped with a chain , fur feet and hands . Elvira of course carried the whip! My husband and I met at a Halloween party 32 years ago. Every year we I would make our costumes and head out to the parties. Elvira and the beast won us many prizes in our day until one day the unicorns head melt on Elvira's wig one hot summer stored in the attic :( You mitten card is very cute ..can't wait to get my new cartridges.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite costumes were not for me but for my Grand Daughter. She wore them all year long. Now, sigh!, she is all grown up. Love all your videos.
ReplyDeleteCute card!! Love the detail in the mittens
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was a "lady of England" and my husband was a king. We had jewels and crowns- all crafted of course! I do remember the costumes being really warm :)
ReplyDeleteCute Idea. Another great idea using the Artiste cart.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite costume was a pumpkin shape made from using a baloon and covering it with machae paper and letting it dry and then popping the balloon hole at top and holes where you legs would fit thru.
I would love to win this cartridge which is on my wish list.
Your mittens card is so festive. Loved the video! My favorite, a gypsy costume, was one my big sister and I wore for several years in a row. It was a black velvet vest, white peasant blouse, and skirt sewn of bands of color. Every year, Mother just sewed on a new band of color. Special memories!
ReplyDeleteCute card! My favorite/best costume - my husband was a scarecrow and I dressed as a black crow - -long black dress with feathers here & there with a great headpiece with a beak over my forhead and covered with feathers. We one first place - a four day trip to Las Vegas! Was a great party!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was a monkey outfit. It was handmade, and I believe it was handed down each year until my three sisters and I had all worn it on Halloween at least once!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was handmade by my mom when I was little. She sewed a white princess gown and let me wear a tiara that she earned when she figured skated. My mom made me feel so special! It was the best costume ever!
ReplyDeleteMy Mom made all my clothes, my Barbies had the same outfits I had
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty card. Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteAnother GREAT card! I LOVE the mittens! I also LOVE making Halloween costumes! Most memorable was probably my son's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Costume! It took me FOREVER to make it but was so dang cute! My favorite to wear would have to be last year...I was the headless bride. It was a bit gruesome of a costume but we had fun with it! It took a little convincing to get my husband to join in on the fun....but once we were out and about he had a good time. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy mother in law would make Split Pea with Ham and I sure wish I had her recipe. It is the perfect soup for the cold winters here. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite costume would have to be when I went as a pirate. I found this really cool musket pistol that shot those little cap-snap-poppy things and some awesome pirate-chick boots. I got best costume at the party!
ReplyDeleteLove your card! My favorite Halloween costume that I sewed for my twin girls was a Pierrot doll costume - they were twin Pierrot dolls and looked so, so cute! The costumes were made from black and fuscia satin. I painted their faces white, with special eye makeup and painted a tear on one of their cheeks. Sure wish I still had those costumes!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was walking around in a bathrobe and a towel around my hair as the frumpy wife. Wait I do that now!! LOL.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember a good costume I wore. I guess I am too old and lost my memory. Love those little mittens.
