Cricut Pop Up Liberty Layout with Stand and Salute

I am on my way to the Close to My Heart convention being held in Orlando Thursday through Saturday. I'm excited to see all the new products that will be coming out for purchase August 1.  What's fun is that we get to "test drive" them all with classes and make 'n takes. I'll have some photos of the event for you guys during the convention - it should be an amazing time!

But first, here's a pop up Liberty layout I thought I would show you guys.

Here's the layout Closed (below):
Using the Cricut Stand and Salute cartridge (best for those patriotic themes!),  I cut The God Bless America at 3.5", the eagles (one flipped) at 2", the "land of the free" at 3".  The 2008 is from the Cricut Graphically Speaking cartridge and it was cut at 1-3/4".
Layout Opened (below): Next, by lifting the cork tag (shown above, bottom left), you get the pop up effect below:
The cuts inside are all from the Cricut Stand and Salute cartridge: fireworks were cut at 3", Liberty was cut at 2", USA was cut at 1-3/4" and the border of torches was cut at 2".
Wondering how I made this?

Here's two videos on how to do this - it's in two parts since I made it back in the day before you could go over 10 minutes (total time is less than 15 minutes for both).  Once you get the overall hang of it, it's pretty easy!  (Click HERE if you can't see the video 1 and HERE if you can't see video 2):

  9. I really like your card. Any card with a pop up is extra special. Although I have watched these videos before I'm glad that you posted them again so that I could enjoy them all over again and pick up some more tips. We probably won't spend much time outside on the 4th since our temps will probably be in the 100's here in central Texas. But we will enjoy visiting with family and most likely with hamburgers.

Hope you have a safe trip and a very fun convention.

  14. You have given me a great idea for pictures of the fireworks stands that my family runs over the 4th holiday. I will be cooking all the usual and sending food to two different stands this year. Hope they just have time to eat it. Thanks for the inspiration.

  16. Great ideas. Thank you thank you....4th of July we always go to our friend's home with 30 of our closest friends. This year he will grill chicken and meat for tacos. Last year it was chicken breasts and veggies. I am making rice. Then we go nuts with fireworks. He is from Bermuda and makes his own fireworks from brillo pads..... very wild and crazy guy.

  25. July 4th - one of the best holidays. It doesn't get any better then to have some wieners on the grill and head down to our Nations Capitol for a spectacular fireworks event. We have been doing this for over 30 years and it won't change for 7-4-2013. The best part of living so close to DC.
