Manly Gift Bag and News!

 I have been on this gift bag making kick for awhile because I just love using the Cricut cuts in a different way.  Today's bag would be perfect for a guy's gift since it isn't girly at all.

I cut the leaf from the Sophie Cricut cartridge at 4-1/2" and inked around the edges.  Then, I applied to it a sheet of kraft paper I had already run through the Cuttlebug using a leaf patterned embossing folder.

If you don't have the Sophie cartridge, there are many other cartridges with leaves on them.

 Paper was by October Afternoon.  Ribbon was by Jillibean Soup and Stampin Up!.  Bag from Hobby Lobby.

The news is that Hello Thursday is today and we should be able to show projects with the new cartridges soon so keep checking back.  There are some fun ones!

 Today's bouquet of flowers was made using the new Cricut Sophie cartridge (a Cricut Circle exclusive cartridge). This idea could also be done using many other Cricut cartridges such as Accent Essentials, Flower Shoppe, Paisley, Hello Kitty Greetings, Life's A Beach, Pack Your Bags, Picturesque, Sweet Treats and many others.

What made this project easy was that these are actually flower cards so I was able to glue the stems right in between the sides of the cards.  Stems were just from the flower arranging department in Hobby Lobby and they came in this green color. I cut the flower cards at 5".  I intended originally to make this into a card set but then decided a bouquet would be more fun.  Projects sometimes change scope as I work on them - how about for you?

 Paper was by Stampin Up! and through a magical twist of fate and good fortune, I had buttons that matched exactly.  These were hot glue gunned into place (is that even a word?...LOL!).  Leaves were cut at 2" and I used glue dots to hold them in place.  Those glue dots are remarkably strong!

Hello Thursday - Cricut CTMH Art Philosophy, Sophie, Art Nouveau, Something to Celebrate, Simply Scarecrow

Another rocking Hello Thursday and there are some fabulous cartridges being released this month!

Check them out below:

1) Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Cartridge:

This new cartridge from Close To My Heart Stamp Company is packed full of goodies (as seen above) - it also comes with fonts, tags and more.  Best of all, there are coordinating stamps when you purchase the Art Philosophy cartridge, as well as even more of them available in their catalog.  It's pretty impressive!  And don't worry because they tell you the sizing of the cuts to match the stamps!  Fun, fun!

Melanie is a Close to My Heart rep and she will be taking orders for this cartridge starting August 1.  We will give you all the details as we get closer to the release date.

Below is a gift bag I made using the cartridge - the flower, number collage and the tag are all from the cartridge.

2) Cricut Art Nouveau Cartridge:

This cartridge comes with two outstanding fonts as well.  I decided to cut one of them for my project below (letter cut at 2-1/2") to make a monogram "J" card.  I love the swirly bits!

3) Cricut Sophie Cartridge - exclusive to the Cricut Circle (for more information on the Cricut Circle, click HERE)

This is the new Cricut Circle cartridge for the first quarter of the new year. (People who join now may not get this cartridge - check above link for details).  It has three sets of cards (one set is shaped, one has cutouts along the edge and one has decorative edges) plus a set of bookmarks and more.  It really is gorgeous! The flower bouquet below is made from a set of flower shaped cards.

4) Cricut Something to Celebrate Cartridge:

This cartridge has a whole key of shaped cards and guess what?  They all layer perfectly (finally)!  Card base, shadow and all layers are all cut at 7" and fit on top of one another exactly. The card measures 7" tall.  The "cheer up" sentiment is from My Creative Time - I am giving away a set of these (see below in giveaway section).

5) Cricut Simply Scarecrow:

This is a seasonal cartridge that has a lot of fun autumn images.  I wasn't sold on it initially, but as I started working with it, I really loved how it came together.  I will tell you that I double layered things by cutting two layers and off setting one of them so it had more dimension.  You can see the beige outline around the scarecrow and the "fall".  This is a trick I learned from the fabulous Monique Griffith!
