Cricut Creative Memories Traveler Cartridge:Tropical Anniversary Card!

I need an anniversary card for my brother and sister-in-law (25 years of marriage!) and thought this hibiscus would be a beautiful focal point to a card.  I used the new Cricut Creative Memories Traveler cartridge for the project.  (See HERE for more pictures of the Cricut Creative Memories Traveler cartridge).

I loved both these images - especially the funky leaves.  I cut the hibiscus (flower3) at 3-1/2" and the leaves at 1-1/2".  Be sure to cut all the layers because that shadow layer really makes these images pop - especially on the leaves. I first made the leaves without the shadow and after looking at it, added it and it really made a difference.
I used My Creative Time's Many Greetings stamp set for the "Happy Anniversary" stamp.

I used Warm Red chalk ink to ink the inside edges of the flower petals and also around the entire outside.  I grew up in Florida and we had loads of hibiscus flowers in the yard and I remembered that they always had a deep red inside.  See below:
As you can see below, I added in the shadow to the leaves and even though it is slight, it still made a big difference.
A pink liner finishes off the inside of the card nicely.  I can't wait to get this in the mail to them.  True confession:  I am late with this card - whoops!  I am hoping they won't mind...
This Cricut Creative Memories Traveler cartridge is available through Creative Memories consultants only and you can order yours HERE!

There are two layered fonts, many images both beachy and city-like along with some gorgeous word art - this is a jam packed cartridge.

This is a perfect cartridge to handle all your travel photos - whether you went to the beach, on a cruise or to NYC - they've got it all!  There are some fun images that remind me of the Graphically Speaking cartridge - very streamlined and graphic.  Also, as shown above, the cartridge is not only for travel - I turned one of the images into a card focal point!  Don't miss out - order yours today HERE!

Check out My Iron-On Vinyl Book Bag!

I'm back today with another iron-on vinyl project.  I love, love, love to read and thought a book bag would be a fun project to make.

I got the black canvas bag at Hobby Lobby (these are often 50% off ), however at $2.99, it's a bargain no matter what. See below:

And then I thought this was a funny saying, based off a popular rap song by Sir Mix A Lot ("Baby Got  Back").  Not that I'm a big rap listener at all, but this song has been played all over so it's hard to miss.

I used my Gypsy to make a file and weld the letters together and flip them.  I actually didn't need to do that since I learned that the iron-on vinyl stays attached to its plastic backing all throughout the process, until you are done ironing, so there's no need to worry about letter shifting.  I used the Creative Memories Traveler Cartridge - I just love this font! File will be available below.

I got my iron-on vinyl from Expressions Vinyl - they have a bunch of colors and various sizes for the Cricut (6" x 12", 12" x 12", 12" x 24", 12" x 5 yds, 12" x 10 yds) .  They have iron-on vinyl (looks matter - which I've used and like) and flocked vinyl (love the dimension on this kind).  It is $6.49 for 12" x 24" and there are frequent coupons.  Be sure and sign up for their email newsletter.

I cut this all out using the following setting of blade at 4, pressure and speed at 3.  I was asked in the comments the other day why I had to flip the wording.  When you cut this out, the plastic backing goes against the mat, so that the vinyl is facing upward.  Then, when you go to iron, the plastic backing is facing up and is what you iron on.  So, you have to flip whatever you are working on.

Finally, I thought I would add a funny photo of my cat, who laid her big self on my bag before I started the project.  I had to force her off it to start the ironing.

The Gypsy file can be downloaded HERE!

Ready to try some iron-on vinyl?  It's a blast!

Cricut Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons "Beautiful Leaves" Card

All this week, I am showcasing the new Cricut Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons and Reminisce Accents cartridges!  Both of these cartridges have some beautiful cuts and unusual word art/fonts that are really fun!

I made this 4-1/2" x 6" card using Coredinations cardstock and DCWV papers.  I cut the leaves on page 56 on the Cheerful Seasons handbook at 2-1/2".

I pop dotted the red glitter leaf to give it some dimension.

This Cricut Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons cartridge can only be purchased through a Creative Memories consultant and wonderfully, my friend Diane from Capadia Designs is a consultant.  You can purchase the cartridge through her at this link:  Cricut Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons cartridge.

The circles were cut using the Cricut Mini Monograms cartridge at 4" (base and shadow), 4-1/4" (base),  4-1/2" (base and shadow), 4-3/4" (base) to create all the layered circles. I embossed the yellow circle with the Victoria leaves embossing folder (a favorite)!  I got this sketch idea from Mojo Monday.  They have fantastic sketches over there - check them out!

I created a matching envelope using my Scor Pal and stamped the side with some new Stampin Up! stamps I got from the Holiday Mini catalog.

Inside, I added some paper and stamped sentiment to finish off the card.  Stamps are from Papertrey Ink.
