It's Christmas in July!
Actually, I saw these burlap 4" x 8" covered frames at Michaels and had to try out some iron-on vinyl with them.
The Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut Cartridge was used for the "Noel" and it was cut at 3-1/2".
Now, I cut this out of Cricut Iron-On Vinyl and then applied it directly to the burlap frame.
It proved to be a bit challenging as the burlap didn't want to let the iron-on vinyl stick properly. But I persevered and got it done.
I dressed up one side with a Christmasy ribbon and then I was done! Quick and Easy!

Here is the product I used:
Actually, the irony is that today is my birthday (not Christmas in July) and I couldn't find the birthday cake project I meant to show. Look for that next week...LOL!
Close to My Heart has announced the product retirement list for the Spring Summer 2014 catalog. These items are on a "while supplies last" type basis so once things sell out, they are GONE!

ReplyDeleteHi Joy I want to wish u a very Happy Birthday !!! an I am praying for your sister- in- law..... I read the anonymous winner an she sounds like she is less than an hour away from my son who lives in Buffalo...
ReplyDeleteYour prayer request has been added to my prayer list, for sure. To answer your question, years ago I covered bulletin boards with burlap for my sons, and also covered a small picture album with it. All have held up well, but I have not used it since. I'm sure it would have a place on certain cards, but I have to say I just can't see using it at weddings, trend or not. :) This is a wonderful cartridge and I would just love to win it. Best Christmas cart I've seen. Elaine in Glenview
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried burlap, but I have seen so many fantastic projects made with it, including yours.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Joy!!! I have never used Burlap. I love the Christmas Cartridge that you are giving away. I love Christmas in general (I think I have around 20 plastic totes full of Christmas decorations. Amazingly, I do not have any Cricut Cartridges that are exclusively Christmas. Of course, I got my first Cricut after Christmas using money I received as gifts.
ReplyDeletePraying everything will go well with your sister-in-law's surgery.
ReplyDeleteYour project is very nice! I haven't tried a burlap project yet, but I have one in mind that I'd like to make. I just need to get to the fabric store to purchase the burlap! I was planning to use iron-on vinyl, but since you mentioned the difficulty in getting the vinyl to stick, maybe I'll try paint instead. So thank you for the helpful info!
Happy birthday!
Burlap scares me! I think it's cool, but I haven't tried it yet.
ReplyDeleteWonderful burlap creation. Used burlap for texture on a card & scrapbook layout but not used like you have. Will say a prayer for your sister-in-law.
