[Video]CTMH Artbooking Glittery Christmas Gift Bag

Today's Christmas gift bag was made completely with the Close to My Heart Artbooking Cricut cartridge (see it below) and lots of glitter paper!
Here are the cuts I made with the sizing:
I managed to figure out what sizes to cut these ornaments out at even though they were real dial size - these sizes work so just go with it (wink!).
The gold glitter paper was particularly thick so I multi-cut it twice. I also used a new sticky mat and taped the edges with painter's tape.  There's nothing more frustrating than ruining or mis-cutting expensive glitter paper!

I used the Close to My Heart Swirls Around stamp set below (which you can get HERE) on the background paper to add a little something-something.

I made the background paper (cream paper behind garland) using the "hide select contour" feature in the Cricut Craft Room.  You can see a video on how to do that HERE.

  15. Love bags, I mean especially when you are time restricted and I know some disagree, but making your own bags whenever possible from generic is the way to go. I save all bags and buy plain white mostly when I have to buy at the Dollar Tree. Its the best place for this stuff. Love the background from Artbooking. Way cool. I know I will be using as the season approaches! Great stuff Joy. TY

Anyhow you have inspired me to buy the bundle and since you have brought to my attention the other sets that can be had just for an additional 15 dollars, wow what a deal. I will bee ordering it from you within the next day or two!! Thanks for the info and the great videos!!

  25. Wow Joy....love gift bags and love this project. Question - the background page, the one you stamped, did you cut that from "backgound 1" and then hide the contour? I noticed you mentioned hiding contour but wasn't sure what you used for the page itself. Thanks in advance....

  31. Sometimes with the gift - you have to use a gift bag. Yes, I use them. Like the bow where you have it. 3 bows would be too much and putting it where you did does not take away from the beautiful ornaments. Love it. Have to put this cartridge on my Christmas gift list

  32. The gift bag is cute...Yes, I use gift bags all the time - i am going to try to be more creative with them...very inspiring...thanks for the opportunity to win this cute cart!!! And I know lots of soon moms-to-be ....

  33. Beautiful gift bag, love the details. I make Christmas gift bags for our neices and nephews every year and they enjoy receiving them as much as I enjoy making them. We just found out we're going to be grandparents, so I would love to win this adorable cartridge.

  35. A gift bag is a gift in itself. What could be better than a gift inside of a beautiful bag that can be reused and continue to spread joy? Obviously I like using and getting gift bags. Thanks for the inspiration.

  38. Yay to adding anything homemade to a gift, especially if the gift is homemade. It makes even a store bought gift more personal!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Great holiday gift bag! I think a narrower ribbon on each ornament would have been cute--or maybe make bows with some of the same material you used for the ornament strings. You could have still used the wider ribbon on the handle.

  46. Joy,
Thank you for another Super Video!
I am going to make that gift bag this evening!
I would think that this design -- made a little smaller -- could be used on a greeting card too?? I think so. I'll give it a try too.

I'm looking forward to winning this week's cartridge since I am now a 1st time Grandma with the most adorable Grandson in the world.
(I'm not prejudiced, am I? Ha-ha!). He just turned 3 months old yesterday and weights in at 17 lbs. and 9 oz. He's on track to catch up with his Daddy, my precious son, who is 6'6" tall.
Thank you again for the great video!

  51. Christmas bags are nice (especially the one you posted), but I really like wrapping gifts and doing bows and fancy things on the gifts. I love bags for quick packaging, and I do enjoy making special gift bags, also. I'd say, in my case, it's a draw.

  52. Joy, very cute bag, I say YES to bags! They complete the gift, especially after taking the time to make or choose a present, then personalizing a bag, it shows it was made and given with love.

  53. Absolutely love the gift bags. I love making them and being able to personalize them for the recipient, sometimes adding a hint of what's inside in the design. These ideas could be used for gift cards as well. And they give me inspiration for other ways to use the designs. Thanks for this wonderful project. And finally as someone mentioned, I too have a new grandson who is also 3 mos. old and has the same birthday. Congrats Granma. I'd love to win this cartdrige to make pages for his book and my own. (Marti from IN).

  56. Hi Joy! Loved your video. Pretty as it was,I prefer the bows on each ornament as you suggested. I seldom make gift bags, but always do my own tags which I put on wrapped presents with big handmade bows. It's all fun and festive! Bags, tags...everyone loves the handmade touch! Love that Baby Steps cart, and just found out our #6 grand will be a girl, due in February!

  73. Your bag is awesome, well done! I am not naturally crafty but I will give this a shot. I have books that I am gifting this year so bags done like this will be the frosting on the cake! I would recommend the books I am giving away this year, The Reindeer Keeper and The Snowman Maker by Barbara Ward, barbarabriggsward.com. But definitely a "YAY" on your bags, I am very impressed.

  74. Hi Joy! How are you and your family doing? ...still sending prayers and hugs your way. What a beautiful bag, if I could make bags like these I would definetly use more gift bags. BTW, I think your one satin bow addition is perfect. Would love to see pics of Snowbell sometime soon...nothing like pet love that seems to reach right into your soul. :)
