[Video]Baby Boy CTMH Artbooking Cricut Layout

Today's layout from the Close to My Heart Artbooking Cricut cartridge had a tricky sizing thing I wanted to point out.

This first cut above was fine - cut at 11" - just as it says.
But then we get to the lion.  He's supposed to be cut at 8"(see upper left corner for what size to cut things). But I wanted him larger.  If I cut him with the real dial size, I can't layer him (see below):

So, there are two solutions to this problem:
1) Use the Cricut Craft Room, put him in at 8", layer him up and then group him by clicking and dragging to get him to the size you want. (Confused by this? Check out my CCR layering video HERE.)
2) Knowing he cuts out at 2-1/4" when you have the dial at 8", you can try to increase the dial size and see what happens.  I just randomly chose 11" as a starting point and he came out to be 3-1/4" which was about what I wanted.
And he looks so innocent above - like he didn't give me any trouble at all...
The last set of cuts are all done at the "prescribed by the book" 11" and cut fine.
Finally, to get my circles for the title background, I used the REAL dial size at 5" and 5-1/2".

All of these cuts were from the Close to My Heart Artbooking cartridge (see below):

  4. I love your little lion, so very cute! Video... hmmm... I don't really watch a ton of videos, but I do appreciate hearing the tips on each of the various Cricut cartridges. It's really nice, too, to see videos for each of the projects. That way, when you see something specific you'd like to recreate, it's all laid out for you in terms of tips, and sizes of cuts, etc.
Thank you, too, for taking the time each week to post the coupons. I come to your site each and every time to grab coupons to go.

  26. That's a great layout and a great video. Your blog has always been helpful in doing projects.

I have a question though: how do you know when to use Real Dial Size and when not to use it? Why wouldn't you have just cut the circle with Real Dial Size off? I always get confused on that.
