A quick tip about cutting the belly band, which is a layer to the card itself:
To cut it using a 12" mat, tell the machine you are actually using a 12x24 mat (even though you are not) and it will cut it just fine.
If you don't, it will say that it is too large to cut.
The flower is cut at 3" and is on pg. 54 and the banner is cut at 1" and is on pg. 58. The matching stamp (Oh Happy Day) comes with the Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut cartridge.

I love the Swing Cards (...some may say I have become obsessed with them!) now I will try the belly band cards. My middle daughter is getting married 9/20/14 and I want to make her invitations using a belly band so this will be perfect practice!!!! Also, thank you for opportunity to win the Baby Steps Cartridge! I don't have any baby ones and with so many weddings in our family lately hopefully I will need one soon!!! Mom2ASK3

ReplyDeleteMy prayers are with you and your Dad.
I love belly band cards and have made a few. Thanks for the tip about telling the machine to use a 12 x 24 mat to get the 12 inch cut.
ReplyDeleteI have a quick tip. When threading twine through buttons, use the old-fashioned wire needle threader. It works great and saves tons of frustration.
ReplyDeleteSending prayers up right now. There go some more. Hang in there. Hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteI love your belly band card. I have not tried one of those before. It looks fun. TFS.

I made about 75 belly band cards... wedding invitations for my daughter's wedding. They came out lovely and we saved a ton of money. She wanted everything homemade and different. It was fun. January wedding with colors of apple red and gold... theme forrest. tree logs vases with flowers and ivy lined the runway. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteI have the Artiste Cartridge but I haven't gotten in to it very much. I am so happy for the tutorials you are posting. It takes alot of the guesswork out of it. I would love to add the Baby steps cartridge to my collection!
ReplyDeleteI own both the Artiste and Art Philosophy cartridges. I completely missed that there is a belly band card. Thank you for sharing! I love your latest posts spotlighting this cartridge. I am learning so much that I didn't realize I had. I have made a couple belly band cards but by hand. This is such a cute new spin on that idea. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity. Only have the Art Philosophy as really have not been using the cricut, but time to do so now. Artiste is on this order going in. :).

Thanks so much for the video--I loved this card!
ReplyDeleteI found what really works well with getting twine through button holes is to put a dab of a quick dry adhesive on the end and twist it. It dries really quick and almost works like a needle.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card Joy. I've never heard the term belly band card but I like it. I'm a big fan of the CTMH cricut cartridges and can't wait to get this one. Thanks
ReplyDeleteLove the video and your belly band card. Makes me chuckle. I'm glad you mentioned the size to print out the banner. I'm making a card for my sister in law and forgot about the banner underneath the stamp. Yeah!

Great video tutorial! It occured to me that I could cut a belly band and wrap it around the layered/matted piece as a permanent part of the front of the card. It would not have to be as long then either. Hmmmmm...need to go experiment now.
ReplyDeleteGreat video, thank you for showing us!
