4th of July Cricut Summer Celebrations Card

I recently saw this furled flag on the Cricut Summer Celebrations cartridge and wondered why I had never cut it.  In fact, as I looked at the cartridge closer, I found a few other things I had never cut related to the 4th of July and you'll be seeing some of those in the upcoming week or so.  I can't believe the great things on this cartridge!
The card is 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" and the flag was cut at 2-1/2".  Now, this flag is actually a shaped card - I went ahead and cut it once in red, once in white and then cut it up to make just the flag portion.  See below:

I did this because I really wanted to use the red paper straw as the flag pole.  I got the package of red paper straws in the Michaels' "used to be $1" spot.

I used some Trendy Twine in red and blue to make a pom pom for the top of the flag pole. Glue dots were essential in adhering the furled flag to the straw and also the pom pom to the top.  Pop dots on the flag itself kept it at a height consistent with the straw.

  20. This has to be one of my favorite cards you've done!!! Love the different elements coming together. You did well to think outside of the box.
I can't think of any tutorials that I'm needing right now. Maybe how to use copics. I'll rack my brain and see if I can think of any more.

  21. What a great card! Your flag is such a wonderful embellishment, and the striped straw was the perfect flag pole. I love tutorials focused on special techniques using the Cricut, like the one you did today. They help me get so much more out of my Cricut, and I appreciate even the repeats. Sometimes it takes more than one lesson for me to remember it. He e

  22. Fantastic card!! If you don't already have one, I would love a tutorial on how to use the colored layers in the cricut craft room. Somehow I turned on a color/layer I didn't want and don't know how to get rid of it!

  35. Love to see more cricut cutouts from the actual cutting and piecing together. Videos make it seem so easy but when I start I have to do the cuts many times. Would live to see paper placement on the mat and how you actually glue/adhere pieces especially the tiny tiny parts!!

  37. I would love to see a tutorial on "just because" cards. I have the instruction pdf you put together - thank you for that- but the picture instructions that Provocraft provided are still so difficult to decipher. I would love to see a tutorial on the more challenging cards. I did a little bit of an overview of the cartridge on my blog last year and it still bothers me that I couldn't put many of the cards together. Thanks so much for this opportunity to win the Dr check-up cartridge. Have a great day! Jilliene

  42. I love the flag. I would love to see a tutorial on using Cricut Craft Room. I just started using it this morning and cut the Father's Day freebies. They look pretty good. Just want to make them larger but they are cards and I don't know if I can make the cut part larger and if so, what will happen to the solid part of the card.
