There were quite a few cartridges released this year that were more geared towards the men in our lives. Some of the cartridges were more hobby focused, but nonetheless, appropriate for those wonderful men and boys in our lives. Check out my choices for best boy/men Cricut cartridges below.
Here are the contenders for the category of Best Boy/Men Cricut Cartridge of 2010:
Here are the contenders for the category of Best Boy/Men Cricut Cartridge of 2010:
1) Cricut B is for Boy Lite Cartridge: This cartridge is chock full of cute pre-school type images and word art (things like "first tooth" and "owie"). Perfect for someone with little boys. I actually cut this "thank you" card from this cartridge. I know, not too boyish but still useful.
2) Cricut Dude! Lite Cartridge: For those tween and teenage boys in your life comes a funky, EXTREME sportz type cartridge. Love how these images layer. This is one of the most unusual releases of the year.
3) Cricut Boys will be Boys Cartridge: Lots of whimsical images on this. Can be geared towards those boys in grades K-5 but beware, the images are still pretty cute. I love the font, though! The arrow, font and fly are all from the cartridge.
4) Cricut Handyman Lite Cartridge: Here's one for the grown up men in your life - especially those who like the diy type projects. This cartridge has all kinds of tool images, word art, construction type art work, etc. Below is a card using the three nail image.
5) Cricut Wildlife Lite Cartridge: Do you have a hunter in your life? This is the cartridge for him. There is a whole section with layered word art and then outlined, realistic animal shapes.
6) Cricut Billionaire Lite Cartridge: Mostly a font cartridge, with some Monopoly type images. So fun and perfect for any type of father's day stuff. Car (trimmed down) is from the cartridge.

I thought this Dude! Cricut cartridge deserved to win because of how unusual the art work was, compared to what is usually found on most of the cartridges. Also, I liked that it catered to an older set of boys. This is about the only cartridge appropriate for this age group. It looks like NO OTHER CARTRIDGE! As an FYI, this cartridge can be found only at Walmart (stores and online) and cricut.com.
What's your choice? Which ones do you like? I'd love to know!

I'm loving your "best of" series already! Looking forward to all of them :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I agree with dude being best for boys. But I don't agree with the ease of layers. I found I really had to look closely to figure out which layer was what, and could not cut most under 6in without cutting problem. Still great and used for my sisters christmas present from there atv/dirt biking vacation. But maybe I just need more practice with these types of cuts.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Can't wait to see your other picks!!
ReplyDeleteI "TOTALLY" agree, the dude cart is the best!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely "Dude"...It is my "must buy next" cartridge along with HandyMan! Going to WalMart this week for them! Awesome blog!
ReplyDeleteI like the Great Outdoors scrapbook page! Great job on all the crafts.

I would have picked Dude! Also. It also fits older men as well. There are still little boys in those men bodies!
ReplyDeleteThis is one that I totally agree with you on!!! I made a chipboard book using this cart for my son's 40th BD and he loved it!!! He was a pro snowboarder and got his start skateboarding and loves to ride motocross. I think it had his name written on it!!!

didn't the robotz cartridge come out in 2010. I know it is not an all around cartridge, but I sure think it is awfully cute and great for boys of course.
ReplyDeleteGreat projects!
ReplyDeleteI have to go with B is for Boy and Boys will be Boys as I have 2 little boys and those carts are perfect for their pages!
more great cards thanks

I would of picked Dude! too.
ReplyDeletelove the inspiration.

I really am liking this Cricut Awards....not familar with some of the cartridges but enjoying all the info....thanks.
ReplyDeleteMy vote would be for the Boys will be boys cartridge. I bought this one because of all the word art. My man is a Ford boy and when I saw the saying 'Built Tough' I was sold! The Handy Man lite is on my wish list and I am sure once we decided to have kids the other boy carts will join it too! lol

I'm enjoying your Picks Joy! But I'm not sure the "DUDE" cartridge is the winner! LOL I find that cartridge to be difficult to put pieces together sooo I would go with the Handyman... But That's just me! :o)
ReplyDeleteLove the whole "BEST" series... and I have to say I agree with all your bests!!
ReplyDeleteI do agree: the artwork on this cart has no match! Great choice for best boy cart this year!
ReplyDeleteLoving your "best of" series! Thanks for doing this Joy!
ReplyDeleteI like B is for Boy because I don't have boys and there are some images I can use for girls. TFS!! Take Care!!

I like Dude! the best. I love to piece stuff together so if there is a lot of pieces, it'll make me very happy. Hadn't really thought about these cartridges but I see I have to put that one on my list and Great Outdoors (thought I could use a bunch of those images for zoo books).
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you on your choice of cartridges. I can't wait for my grandson to become a teen so I can use this cart. It reminds me of the teen graffiti that you see on walls and freight trains. Great images.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to get the Wildlife, my husband the great white hunter, finally something to embellish his pages with.
ReplyDeleteI just might need to go buy that Dude cart!
ReplyDeleteI love B is for Boy! It has so many cute images... and how do you not LOVE a cartridge with a Sock Monkey on it?
ReplyDeleteI like the Handy Man cart because of all the men, including my husband, who are diy type of guys. Makes it easier to make a card for them. However, I have B is for Boy on my list of carts to buy.
ReplyDeleteI like the Handy Man cart too because I've a diy dh who has built me a gorgeous scrapbook room and diy dogs who are always getting a photo op after getting into the paint or being just down in the middle of putting together that shelf unit!
ReplyDeleteI have B is for Boy and love it. Boys will be Boys and Handy Man are on my want list. My grandsons are only 6and 4 so I am not relly into Dude at this time
ReplyDeleteI had to get Dude right away, because it was perfect for my family's (especially husband & son) love of ATVs, snowboarding, etc.
ReplyDeleteHandyman is still a possibility on my list of wants. I'm just not sure how much I would really use it.
Thanks for sharing your opinions on these.
That was also my first choice.

Great cards I like the Dude! Lite Cartridge tfs
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, Joy
ReplyDeleteSusan
Oh, Joy, that has to be difficult to pick the winning cartridge. I don't have any of these, but had Handyman cartridge on my wish list. I'm really enjoying seeing your awards.
ReplyDeleteMary R.
I was so happy to see this category! Like so many people, I have a hard time with the masculine cards. The two that are on my wishlist are Dude and Wildlife... they seem more appropriate for the boys and men in my life. :) I am loving these awards... thanks so much!!

Wow! Another difficult choice. I have to agree with your pick again this time. Love all the different characters.
ReplyDeleteI really like the Dude cart best for the teen thru 30 group. It definitely has images relating to that group of males. I like it combined with the JT Imagine cart. As for the 30 to 50 male age group I like Handyman & Billionaire. I love those two carts. But that is just my personal opinion based on my family and friends.

Having 4 grandsons, who are into all kinds of sports and activities, the Cricut Lite Dude Cartridge would be great to have! Sandra
