Cricut Creative Memories Traveler Cartridge:Tropical Anniversary Card!

I need an anniversary card for my brother and sister-in-law (25 years of marriage!) and thought this hibiscus would be a beautiful focal point to a card.  I used the new Cricut Creative Memories Traveler cartridge for the project.  (See HERE for more pictures of the Cricut Creative Memories Traveler cartridge).

I loved both these images - especially the funky leaves.  I cut the hibiscus (flower3) at 3-1/2" and the leaves at 1-1/2".  Be sure to cut all the layers because that shadow layer really makes these images pop - especially on the leaves. I first made the leaves without the shadow and after looking at it, added it and it really made a difference.
I used My Creative Time's Many Greetings stamp set for the "Happy Anniversary" stamp.

I used Warm Red chalk ink to ink the inside edges of the flower petals and also around the entire outside.  I grew up in Florida and we had loads of hibiscus flowers in the yard and I remembered that they always had a deep red inside.  See below:
As you can see below, I added in the shadow to the leaves and even though it is slight, it still made a big difference.
A pink liner finishes off the inside of the card nicely.  I can't wait to get this in the mail to them.  True confession:  I am late with this card - whoops!  I am hoping they won't mind...
This Cricut Creative Memories Traveler cartridge is available through Creative Memories consultants only and you can order yours HERE!

There are two layered fonts, many images both beachy and city-like along with some gorgeous word art - this is a jam packed cartridge.

This is a perfect cartridge to handle all your travel photos - whether you went to the beach, on a cruise or to NYC - they've got it all!  There are some fun images that remind me of the Graphically Speaking cartridge - very streamlined and graphic.  Also, as shown above, the cartridge is not only for travel - I turned one of the images into a card focal point!  Don't miss out - order yours today HERE!

Two of my design team members have projects going up today using the Cricut Creative Memories Traveler cartridge - check out the links below:

Announcing the Obsessed with Scrapbooking Dream Design Team!

I have been contemplating having a design team for awhile and thought this would be a fun way to talk about and show new items, as well as showcase some fabulous talent!  But I wondered if anyone would be interested. So, when I contacted some of my favorite designers, I was nervous about their response.  I was so thrilled when they all said "yes!".  YAY!

Without further ado, in alphabetical order, here is the Obsessed with Scrapbooking Design Dream Team:

Susan Edwards

I am Susan Edwards, wife, mother, artist, and scrapbooker.  I have been married to a wonderful man for 30 years and we have three grown/college age children.  I have always found creating art to be fulfilling and relaxing, and for me scrapbooking is an archival form of art. I am an avid collector of Cricut machines, cartridges, and tools, as well as cardstock and embellishments. I am a huge fan of Cricut Design Studio and the endless possibilities for creating designs to cut with my Cricut machines.  When not in my scrap room, I also enjoy decorating, reading and spending time with family and friends.
Susan's blog is called Busy with the Cricky!

Nadia Herbst-McConnell

My name is Nadia Herbst-McConnell. I am a paper crafter whose first love is fabrics!  I have a degree in art with a concentration in fiber from the University of Louisville. I worked for nearly 18 years managing, teaching, selling, sewing, and doing visual merchandising for a huge, three-floor, family-owned fabric store. For a time, I created juried art dolls that sold in galleries with the "Kentucky Crafted" certification.  I have been working for the past 12 years with my entrepreneur husband (who is also my best friend) on our businesses.  I am the mommy to a brilliant, artistic, beautiful, and hilarious little girl.

Until recently, my Cricut and work with paper have largely been for package decoration or simple cards. It is only in the past year or so that I realized I could really diverge from the art on the cartridges to get the image I wanted. I do so primarily by manually cutting away or adding to the paper die cut form. Each project that I complete helps me to learn a bit more. By adding detail, even when not altered and simply cut as rendered, the scene is so much more interesting to me.

My primary interest in using my Cricut is to have fun! I get the biggest kick out of creating little vignettes, and have so enjoyed the reaction from other Cricut enthusiasts! The ease and speed of using die cut forms keeps it fun for me!
I like to challenge myself to learn as I do projects and I have been having a great time with my Yudu! My favorite kinds of projects involve whimsical vignettes and gift sets where I can combine paper crafting, silk screening, cooking, and other hand-crafts!
I am so excited to be a part of the Obsessed with Scrapbooking Design Team!

Christina Thomas

Hi, I'm Christina Thomas from Creations with Christina (www.creationswithchristina.com) I've been paper crafting for many years and I love sharing my ideas, insights and tips through my website. From simple cards to videos with step by step instructions. I started scrapbooking when I married my husband Scott and fell more in love with anything paper related when I purchased my baby bug (AKA Original Cricut) a few years ago. I have one amazing son Ethan and work full time as Head of Circulation at the Scranton Public Library.
Christina's blog is called Creations with Christina

Shirley Thompson

Hey ya'll! I am Shirley Thompson, also known as okieladybug. I now answer to my real name or "okie" without even a second thought. I have one gorgeous daughter who is 19 and she is the light of my life. When I am not paper crafting I work full time as a Mental Health Therapist and tell my clients it is important to have hobbies for achieving and maintaining happiness. I have accumulated a number of hobbies over the years but nothing has come close to my love of papercrafting and the Cricut! It's hard to believe how a little machine can change your life. Not only does papercrafting have my mind racing constantly about new projects but it has blessed me with making numerous friendships that I cherish. I am honored to have Joy ask me to be a member of her Design Team and look forward to sharing projects with you over the next few months.
Shirley's blog is called Okieladybug's Scrap 'n More!

I can't wait to start featuring their projects!  Please give them a warm welcome!
