First up on the Five Must-Make Mini-Album series is the "How We Met" mini-album.
I decided to record the story of how my husband and I met and the journey we've been on together since in an 8"x 8" album that I presented to him one Valentine's Day.
I got the idea because I always wondered about how my grandparents had met, what they were doing in their lives when they met, what things happened along the way, etc. I love romantic things like that and wanted to record my own romance (G rated, of course, for those worried...).
To get started, I chose a red 8" x 8" album from Colorbok and gathered up various related papers in cream, red, pink, black and patterned. I had various "love" type embellishments that I used along the way. I had collected these in a 12"x12" Iris case just to prepare for this album.
Tip #1: Collect all your papers and embellishments together in a 12"x12" Iris case...that way you have all your materials together.
Tip #2: Consider making a timeline by year, showing where you lived, or other significant events as they occurred.
Here are my pages:
Do you have an album like this? Are you thinking about making one?
Check back tomorrow for another Must-Make Mini-Album; it's stellar!

ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea. I'm not sure I'd remember all the details as we met 14 years ago. I'll have to work on a book like this vs our wedding album. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAww, this is so sweet! I just did an album for my sweetie last week. I didn't do "how we met" but included lots of pictures of us together over the past 8 years (tomorrow is the 8th anniversary of our first date!). I used music as the theme and included titles and words to songs. I can't wait to give it to him!

Love the mini album!! Great idea!!

I love the idea of shorter, mini albums. The ones I have done, I've taken more time, as it looks you have, to have additional space to journal.
ReplyDeleteThanks for more tips on these cute albums!

ReplyDeleteHow sweet. I like this idea. It seems like something I could actually complete. I still haven't done our wedding album (our 7th anniv is coming up too).
ReplyDeleteYou reminded me that I made an album like this to give my husband on our first anniversary--52 years ago! It's not nearly as fancy as yours--just letters, photos, and ephemera. I'll have to find it and share it with my grandchildren. About all I remember about it was that he wasn't impressed. I guess he would have rather had a tie.
ReplyDeleteDear Joy,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing such a personal album. It is a delightful recording of two people falling in love. How LUCKY you are to have found such a wonderful man and he you! I'm sure that your kids and grandkids will LOVE to read it some day and will see it as the treasure it is.
Great book for memories! Thank-you!!

You did such a great job with this album! The layouts are so pretty, but still show off all the hard work you put into writing your history. I made one for my hubs awhile ago...Maybe it's time for round 2? :)
ReplyDeleteI need to do something like this. This is wonderful. I'd also like to do an album with pics of my parents and input from my mother. That would be sweet to pass on to my children. Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteWow what an amazing idea. Such great memories to hand down.

ReplyDeleteWhat a precious wonderful idea. Thanks for the tip to gather your supplies and pictures together in one box. That is a big part of doing an albumn anyway and having it all together like this you could pull it out and work on it so much easier.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great keepsake for my kids! Oh and a great reminder for my husband as well, thanks and I can't wait for the other 4 projects!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea. I think I'll definitely add pages like this to our family album. Whether or not I make a separate album is up in the air, but journalling is so very important.
