They weren't fooling around with the Christmas cartridge releases this year, either.  They released 5 different mini cartridges (Christmas Cards, Christmas Village, Trim the Tree, Winter Lace, Gingerbread), not to mention Winter Frolic.

Best Halloween Cricut Cartridge of 2010

Provocraft went nuts with the Halloween category this year.  We went from having no specific cartridges for this category to having four (Happy Hauntings, Mini Monsters, Oct. 31 and Pumpkin Carvings)!  And, for fun, I threw in Celebrate with Flourish because it's got some super cute Halloween images (plus I love the card I made....hee hee!).

Here are the contenders for the category of Best Halloween Cricut Cartridge of 2010:

1) Mini Monsters Cartridge: This full size cartridge features the cutest word art and card feature!  The images are multi-layered and the shadow is thicker.

2) Celebrate with Flourish:  This Lite cartridge, found only at Walmart (stores and online) and at cricut.com, has such amazing Halloween stuff on it.  Loved this bird, moon and tree combo image.

3) Pumpkin Carvings: This mini cartridge has these cute medallion type images that you could use to cut your pumpkin.

4) Oct. 31: This mini has more detailed cuts - so fun!

5) Happy Hauntings: This full size cartridge has two funky fonts and a phrase feature.  I love the layering on this cartridge and the font rocks!

Best Girl Cricut Cartridge of 2010

For this category, I was looking for the cartridge that has a font or great word art, girly images and any extra fun items that are particularly girly.

Here are the contenders for the category of Best Girl Cricut Cartridge of 2010:

1) Cricut Rock Princess Cartridge:  Funky girl meets rock star in this tween girl cartridge full of word art, fun images, and two fonts (heart and skull).

2) Cricut Once Upon A Princess Cartridge:  I do love this cartridge.  The layered word art is amazing and the tag section is great for making journaling boxes, decorative elements, etc.

3) Cricut Slumber Party Lite Cartridge:  This is such a cute, quick and easy cartridge to use.  Only a few layers and all of them backed by a fixed shape.  Lots of things that would be perfect for a girls' slumber party!

Let's hear a drum roll, please.....the winner of the Best Girl Cricut Cartridge is the......

I chose Once Upon A Princess because of the sheer volume of different items it has!  Here are some of the things this cartridge has:

- Paper Princess Dolls plus many other layered images
- 2 Fonts
- A whole layered Tag Feature key (100 images)
- 50 layered word art images
- a 3-D castle
- 2 party invitations with envelopes
- a wand and two crowns for the kids to wear/play with
- 3 bags

Most Cutesy Animal Cricut Cartridge of 2010

This is a tough category - so many cute animal cartridges to choose from!  I'm finding it hard to decide which ones even to narrow it down to, at this point.

Here are the contenders for the category of Best Cutesy Animal Cricut Cartridge of 2010:

1) Give A Hoot: This earth friendly cartridge has some of the cutest woodland animals out there.  Not only that, some "green" word art in a funky font completes the cartridge.

2) Create A Critter:  Loads of all kinds of animals using one of the easiest layering formats Provocraft has ever put out.  Every layer just stacks on top of the previous one - no little bits to contend with!

3) Simply Charmed: This is like a cuter, more updated version of the cartridge Doodlecharms.  Sure, lots of the characters have some goofy faces, but they can also be cut without those faces.  Many, many cute images.

4) Hoot 'n Holler Lite Cartridge: Owls are all the rage and this cartridge has some of the cutest owls out there and lots of owl-icious layered word art to boot!

5) 3 Birds on Parade: This cartridge has loads of these cute birds, all doing different things - going on trips, celebrating the holidays, etc.  Lots of fun word art on this one also!  A must have for someone who loves birds.

These little layered animals are just too stinking cute and there are just so many varieties - that's what makes this cartridge my pick for cutest animal cartridge!  Complementary phrases and accessories complete each animal.  The sheer variety in the animals makes this my hands down winner!

Which is your favorite?  Can't wait to hear!

Best Cricut Cartridge for Cardmakers of 2010

This is probably one of the toughest ones for me to choose.  Before the fall releases, this category was sewn up by the Just Because Cards cartridge, but now, it's not so clear.  Let's take a look:

Here are the contenders for the category of Best Cricut Cartridge of 2010 for Cardmakers :

1) Cricut Just Because Cards Cartridge: I love this cartridge!  Sure, it's got some quirks to it (which is why I made some videos to help you - see HERE!).  But, the variety of the images and matching word art and envelopes make it one of the easiest cartridges for cardmakers to use.

2) Cricut Birthday Bash Cartridge: At first glance, this cartridge appears to be a bit more geared towards birthday layouts and party planning.  But, there is a whole key of cards on here and there are some fabulous shaped ones!  I made a number of cards with this cartridge and by mixing it up a bit, you'd never guess they came from such a cutesy cartridge.  See below for a brief sampling.

3) Cricut Christmas Cards Mini Seasonal Cartridge: This cartridge has 10 different layered Christmas cards for you to make.  I love the different card shapes, which again could be made for any type of card you wanted.

4) Cricut Paper Lace Cartridge:  This cartridge is perfect for cardmakers.  The icons and word art cut wonderfully at smaller sizes and the lacy backgrounds are perfect for any cards you might want to make. I love the "will and grace" word art and there is also a font on this cartridge.

5) Ornamental Iron Cricut Cartridge: Two fonts on this cartridge and these gorgeous iron backgrounds make this a nice cartridge for cardmakers who need some stunning backgrounds.  Also, the different iron pieces can be broken out to make additional accents.

I notice I went through a faux stitching period here with these cards...

OK, this was hard to choose because frankly, I think you need all of these cartridges!  Seriously!  Notice, I haven't recommended all of my choices in any other post (yet...) but these here I am quite partial to.

I ended up choosing the Just Because Cards cartridge because of the image versatility.  But, if I had to go on card shapes alone, I would choose Birthday Bash.  If I wanted elegant backgrounds and word art, I would go with Ornamental Iron and Paper Lace. Elegant Christmas cards....Seasonal Christmas card cartridge. So, see, you really need them all...

What do you think?  Which do you like?  Can't wait to hear.
