My parents' 52nd wedding anniversary was yesterday so of course, I needed a card for the occasion! Since I show my mom all the cards I make, I needed to create a new one. My mom loves bold colors so I headed over to the Tie the Knot Cricut cartridge and cut out this hisbiscus flower on page pg. 32 at 3". When I was growing up in Miami, we had quite a few hot pink hisbiscus plants in our yard so I thought this would be appropriate. I used all the layers and cut an extra flower and popped that up alone. I LOVE that look! I added two pearls on the end to represent my parents.
My card is 6" x 6" and I went with this size because I knew I could make an envelope. I cut an extra flower for the outside and stitched around the edge. Paper is from Bo Bunny, while the envelope was cut with a DCWV text weight paper.
Inside, I added a plain green flower, with the "Happy Anniversary" stamped on it. The stamp is from a Papertrey Ink set.
Now, the burning question: how did I make an envelope to fit a 6" x 6" card using only a sheet of 10" x 10" paper? Well, I found this fantastic tutorial over on the Frugal Crafter's website! She rocks by the way and is seriously artistically talented! Also, she has such helpful tips on crafting more economically. She developed a way to use the Scor-Pal to create envelopes and to see how, check out her post HERE! This is a simple and easy tutorial and frankly, I am thrilled to see how I can make good looking, simple and quick square envelopes!
