[Video]Organization - Store Embossing Folders and Dies Easily!

I have a little embossing folder addiction. I just love them and with their low price point, they are so easy to collect.  They say the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. Of course, I don't think I have a problem (isn't that what they all say?). Hee hee.

I was so excited when I realized that the Close to My Heart large organizer could hold large and small embossing folders and dies. It can also hold up to 40 stamp sets.

Before this, my embossing folders and dies were sitting out, in some disarray.  The problem was that the 5" x 7" embossing folders didn't fit in any containers I could find - they were too tall.  So, once I discovered that they would fit in this Close to My Heart large organizer, I was thrilled!
Of course, no container should go unadorned so I had to put some vinyl on it (see video below for more details).
Above you can see the folders and then my ring of tags.  Those tags are each embossed and numbered to match up to my folders.  That way I can quickly decide which folder I want to use. I can even hold it up to the project.
Then, one of my readers Dotty E., pointed out how helpful those Close to My Heart 6"x6" envelopes shown above would be to store your dies in.  What a great idea!  Then those envelopes fit perfectly in the organizer also!  WOO HOO!
Below are the products I used:
These are the Close to My Heart envelopes used to store the dies.

These Close to My Heart tabbed dividers can also be used to further organize your folders and dies.
I used the Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut Cartridge to make the "embossing folder" vinyl.

  5. These are excellent ideas for storage as most of our original storage plans were outgrown many moons ago. It is nice that the large organizer it such a great pack rat to take to a crop with just the folders, dies, stamps we think we will need all in one place
To answer your question about the new Cricut machines, I am afraid they are out of my budget at the moment, but would love to win one to speed up the ownership process..Texas Anne

  12. Thanks for sharing your storage system! I was lucky enough to win an Explore a few months ago. I don't mind being connected to my computer, so I have no plans to get the Explore Air for now.

  14. Yes I received the Explore for Christmas from my sweet husband! I have totally loved it! I had three other Cricut machines and the gypsy. I enjoyed them but I wasn't in love with them, like I am with the explore!

  19. Joy, I watched this video when you had it on some time ago and while I store my embossing folders in a photo box, I did number them and make the tags after seeing your video. It was been a huge improvement over looking through all of them whenever I want to use them. Now I just flip through my tags and pick out the one I want and go to that number. Genius! So thanks again for another great video.

  20. No, I didn't get the Explore or Explore Air. I have a Mini, an Original, and a fairly new E2. While I was home in Houston at Thanksgiving, I went to a very nice scrapbook store. The owner kept telling me how wonderful the Silhouette and that I should get that. I don't know. I go to two different Crops a month and I don't have a laptop. So, I don't see how the Explore/EAir would work for me? Love the storage ideas!! Thanks Joy!

  22. I have the purple explore from HSN they sold back in October. I do really like it, but sometimes wonder if it was simplier with the expression. Did you cut your vinyl with the expression? You were talking about speed at 3 and pressure at 3 for the cut. Do you like the CTMH cartridges better with the Explore or Expression

  23. Would love to own an explorer but just can't afford it right now.

  28. I was just thinking about making samples of my embossing folders and putting them on a ring. I'd seen your post the first time you shared it with us and recently couldn't remember who did it or how exactly it was done. I'm so glad you reposted your idea and that I found it! I'll have to think about getting another large container for my embossing folders. I just bought my first large container and I love it! I'm in the middle of organizing my stamps. I have a lot of stamps in jewel cases, cheap quality plastic boxes and mounted on plastic sheets that I now know I can put in CTMH 6x6 envelopes. I have quite a few that I could unmount from their blocks too. Organizing is almost as fun as crafting! (Do I need help? Don't answer that.) Thanks again. And thank you for the giveaway.
