How to Size Images in Cricut Craft Room

Monday, November 28, 2011

This week I am planning on putting up some helpful videos on how to use the Cricut Craft Room. If you haven't heard, Cricut Craft Room is the new, FREE online design tool.  It's been fun getting acquainted with this new, fun program!

Below, I have a video that will help you size your images in the Cricut Craft Room so that they layer properly.  I have been getting lots of questions on this topic and thought a video would explain things best. Click HERE if you can't see the video.

Thanks! Any little bit helps. I had problems getting in the craft room. A little misunderstanding about what my "user name" is. Didn't know it is my email address. Then I finally got in and couldn't cut. Went to the Craft Room Blog. They have some very helpful info there. I didn't realize I had to use Cricut Sync first. Now I can't get my cartridges to link. So if you have any good ideas about that, I would welcome them. So yes! More videos please!

I was wondering what do I need to do to use the CCR with my cricut. I got my cuts set up but not sure how to make it work with my cricut. I am sure it is super easy but I don't know what to go. Please help.

Thank you for the video. I logged on once but haven't played around with it. Do you know if you can "turn off" the mat background? Sometimes those squares make it hard for me to see the final design.

Thank you for this great video! I have not had much of an opportunity to work with CCR yet, but plan to do so once I've got my Christmas decorating, etc., finished.

I do have one question, you had this project set at 3.5", but then said you can use the box to enlarge or reduce the size. Does one override the other? Could you have done the selection box to include everything then changed the size to 4"? I also wondered about creating a shadown for something you have designed, is that done in the same manner?

Thank you so much Joy, you are so patient and thorough in your videos!

I love CCR. I also loved my Gypsy but the screen was small. I can now use CCR on my mini laptop while watching tv. The videos are helpful and makes understanding CCR
easy to use. It also works great
with the cricut mini. Just have to plan your cuts on a smaller size paper. Keep the tutorials comming

Thank you for posting these videos. They help SOOOOO much. I was trying to cut a shape with a shadow and couldn't figure out how to do it. I'm assuming you would do shadows the same as layers? If not, could you do a video showing how to do it...pretty plz.
So far, I love CCR.

It's nice to see the extra tips for CCR. I've tried to use it but it's just not willing to work for me. I've ended up frustrated and since I can't always use it since it's internet based I think I'll just stick with my Gypsy !!

Hi Joy,

I emailed you the other day when I subscribed; thanks for answering! I am looking at this video because I am trying to figure out the shadowing, layering piece (as you may remember). The CCR has updated and it seems that what you are showing here isn't consistent with the CCR I'm seeing. SO, I'm particularly looking at using the base and then shift to get the layers. In my CCR, all the tabs come up across the top, once you have selected a cartridge...does that make a difference in how I get what I need? I'm so confused but want so badly to use all the features of the cartridges and CCR. Also, do you find yourself using the booklet when you set things up? Maybe that's my problem because every cartridge doesn't necessarily have shadowing, or layering, right?
