How to Delete All Photos from the iPhone

If you are like me, you have 1000s of photos on your iPhone!

And one day, you have no more room on the iPhone.

Here is how to quickly and easily delete ALL the photos at one time:

1) Be sure and back up your photos to your computer, the cloud, external storage device, somewhere!
2) Plug your iPhone into your Mac.
3) Launch the Image Capture application.
4) Click on your device in the upper left corner. See below - mine says "Joy's iPhone"
5) You will see all your photos. Click on just one.
6) Then hold the command and "a" key down at the same time to highlight all the photos. The photos will turn blue.
7) Then, see photo below, click on the prohibit sign next to the "import to" button at the bottom.
Please note above photo is what happens after you agree to delete your photos.

8) A warning will come up asking if you are sure you want to delete all the photos - click Yes

It will begin deleting all your photos. I had over 4,000 and it took about 5 minutes to delete them.

  1. THANK YOU, Thank You, thank you!! I had over 1,000 and googled to try and figure out how to get them all gone, but came up with nothing. I sat down in front of the TV for awhile and selected about 50 - 100 at a time and then clicked on the trash can.

Doing it on my computer on "iCloud" was even worse! I held down - can't remember which - either command or shift to press on each individual picture, but if I clicked on the wrong spot, the whole selection was unselected and I had to start again!!

Oh - also in Image Capture, saying you want to delete after downloading doesn't work, either.

Can't wait to try this. Thanks, Joy!!

  2. Don't have a MAC... All of mine should be stored in the Cloud but still time consuming to try to delete pictures to clear some space.
