Cricut Explore Design Space 2.0, Explore Air, iPad App and COUPONS!

Cricut Explore, Design Space software, Close to My Heart, die cutting, cardmaking, scrapbooking
Grab some coffee and sit back because there is lots to talk about today before we get to the coupons!

Exciting news: Cricut is revamping the Design Space software for the Cricut Explore machine and it's got some wonderful new features.

I am one of their product experts and have been able to beta test it for them over the past few months. And I have to say that I love it!

So, to give you guys an idea of what's new in the software, I made a quick overview video about the new Design Space 2.0!  Remember that this will be available after Monday, February 16, 2015 for everyone.

For those of you concerned about firmware, Cricut has said the following:

All the Air machines will be updated in the factory, so there will be no need to update the firmware for those machines for now.
The new Design Space will require all green Explore machines to have version 1.091. This is the optional firmware update that is currently available to our customers. All existing users are currently on either 1.074 or 1.091. All we’re going to do is change the firmware update to 1.091 from optional to mandatory."
So in other words, check your firmware number and if you are up to date, there is nothing you will need to do except when the new Design space comes you will be asked to do a plug in.

If that was confusing, don't worry. When you go to use the Explore after the update on Monday, it will prompt you through the steps to get your machine going with the Design Space 2.0.

Check out the video below to see the new software (click HERE if you can't see the video):

FYI: Starting on Monday, February 16, 2015, Cricut will be upgrading the online Design Space software.

Cricut Craftroom, Design Space and the Cricut site will be down from 6 am MST-midnight MST.

This means that you will not be able to design or cut projects using Design Space or Cricut Craftroom on Monday, February 16. However, after this upgrade, you will be able to use the new software as shown in the video and your projects will be transferred over.

Next Wednesday, February 18, starting at 12:01 a.m. EST on HSN, Cricut will be launching the new Cricut Explore Air machine that will be bundled with 3 new Anna Griffin content cartridges -

1) Anna's Garden Cards and Embellishments
2) Anna's Flourish Cards and Embellishments
3) Anna's Decorative Monograms and
4) 50 Make It Now Projects

No word yet on the price point but I would surprised if they didn't have flex pay and some special deal going...

What are the differences between the Cricut Explore Air and the earlier Cricut Explore?

The Cricut Explore Air comes with built in wireless and a new sporty blue color, as well as the Anna Griffin content (when purchased on HSN).

What if you just bought the other Explore (green or purple)?

You can purchase the wireless adaptor to make it work wirelessly. You will want this if you plan to use it with the new iPad app (I will get to that in a moment...keep reading...).

If you want to get the Anna Griffin content and you already own the Explore and do not want to purchase the Explore Air, HSN will have a digital bundle that includes the wireless adaptor to use with the current machine.

Here's a link to check that out below- notice that the autoship comes with the 3 cartridges mentioned above (Garden, Flourish and Monograms) PLUS two other cartridges.

In June, you will receive the Anna Griffin - Everyday and in August  you will receive Anna Griffin - Holiday.

SEE HSN Anna Griffin wireless adaptor with autoship digital content HERE.

What if you just want the Anna Griffin cartridges and no new machine and/or wireless adaptor?

The digital content will be available to buy in Design Space 2.0 sometime in April and as a 3 cartridge bundle on HSN in May (for those using all the other machines - Expression, E2, Baby Bug, Mini).  I am not sure when the other two cartridges you get in the HSN digital autoship deal (Everyday and Holiday) will be available.
Now, let's talk about the new iPad app that is coming out sometime soon (no fixed date yet but hopefully this coming week).

I have been beta testing it and it is really awesome.  The current iPad app lets you cut the "make it now" projects.

The new iPad version not only lets you cut the "make it now projects" but also allows you to design your own projects and cut (as long as you have a wireless adaptor or the Explore Air).

It will work on all versions of the iPad except the first generation iPad.

As a beta tester and Product Expert, I have been trying it out. I am using it on the iPad mini and even with the smaller iPad size, it's fantastic.  Best part is being able to design quickly and easily and the iPad takes up no space on the desk when it comes time to start cutting. I love how big the images are on it also!

It has a similar look to it as the Design Space 2.0.

I will have video out on how to use it next week.

There is not a version for Android at this time.

I will announce the winner of the Cricut Printable Vinyl and announce my new giveaway tomorrow.
