They can put something they want and it is usually very simple like a new coat, new boots, very rarely have I seen anyone ask for an expensive toy. Often times we ring the bell and wait across the street in our hoopty shaded window car and watch as they all stand there reading the names on the packages..they don't even bring them inside for awhile..its awesome!! Thats the only presents we exchange....our hearts are full! God bless and Happy Holidays to you all!

my favorite tradition would have to be spending time with family and friends
ReplyDeleteThanks for offering us the opportunity to win the Cricut Cartridge. It makes beautiful cutouts which would be a plus to use as accent layers in my scrapbooking projects. My Family Tradition for Christmas Eve when my 2 children were little was to let them open the 1 present that was under the Christmas Tree for them. Inside each wrapped box was a Brand new pair of Pajamas for them to wear that night, so that they would be wearing nice cute pajamas when Santa came to drop off the rest of their Presents. Also inside the box was a book for them to read that night in order to calm them down to get them to sleep that night. As they got older, they book then became a video. When they were ready for bed they would set out a plate of cookies for Santa, that were baked earlier in the day along with a glass of milk. WOW !!! Going down Memory Lane for you has put a smile on my face. :)

My favorite Christmas tradition is one that we just started with our grown boys and their significant others last year. We make the 2 hour trek to Cleveland, OH to see the Cleveland Symphony/Chorus Christmas concert. It's held in the spectacularly beautiful Severance Hall and features traditional Christmas carols, classical Christmas music, and music from Christmas movies. We drove through snowy NE Ohio to attend this event just yesterday! It's always wonderful ~ just being in Severance Hall makes you feel the Christmas spirit. We hope to continue this tradition for many years to come!

ReplyDeleteSo hard to pick one tradition as my favorite as the whole season is one of Joy because of the reason for this season, the birth of Jesus Christ. After a simple meal of cold cuts on rolls and salads, we love going to the Christmas Eve candlelight service at our church and returning home with our family. First, we read the Christmas story from Luke, then sing favorite Christmas carols, and then open gifts one at a time. We start from the youngest to the oldest opening up one for all to see and a thank you said. We continue going around again and again until no one has any gifts left. Helps everyone to see what the gifts are and the reactions to gifts given, and it's a respectful and orderly time as family. Then the fun begins with board games, puzzles, Christmas goodies.
ReplyDeleteWe have two traditions that have been carried through my young years, my kids years, and now my with my grandkids. We start baking cookies about two weeks before Christmas and then on Christmas Eve we all jump in the car and go look at all of the outdoor lights and decorations. My grandchildren get a big kick out of listening to my stories of baking cookies and Christmas Eve "drive" with my family and then listening to my kids relating Christmas stories when they were growing up. Merry Christmas, Joy

ReplyDeleteMy favorite is making homemade gifts for family
ReplyDeleteWe adhered to several family traditions when our son was younger, but most were for children, such as he always got to open one gift on Christmas Eve (always PJ'S . . . hmmm). After a dinner of homemade chicken, dumplings and noodles we, always read "The Night Before Christmas" and when he was eight or so, we included "The Polar Express." The traditions that we still count on are traveling around northern Virginia admiring all the beautiful lights and decorations that people have so generously shared with us. Every few years we'll go into Washington, DC (about 7 miles) to witness the magnificent displays there. Christmas Eve is the one night of the year our son and his wife stay overnight with us. Christmas day we always watch a Christmas movie. For the longest time only "A Christmas Story" would do, but now the only restriction is that it has to be about Christmas. The recommended dress code is jammies. Thank you for being such a great creative role model, Joy. You've taught me so much. Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas, filled with good health, love, hope, joy and those you love.

ReplyDeleteA favorite tradition when my children were small was to give them a roll of brown paper and some Christmas stamps and ink pads and they stamped the brown paper to make wrapping paper for santa. They loved to see that Santa had used their wrapping paper on their gifts under the tree on Christmas morning and they had such fun making it.

ReplyDeleteI'm crazy about the edge to edge cricut cartridge. I haven't seen it before. Looks like something I would like to have in my arsenal.
Have a beautiful holiday.
My favorite holiday tradition is decorating our Christmas tree with all the ornaments we've collected since we were married. We buy a new ornament each year and it's fun to add the newest ornament to the tree.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Holiday tradition is getting together with family and friends to talk about the year and want we can do the next year to make things better.

ReplyDeleteChristmas morning we open presents one at a time and watch each other do that. Then we head as a family to church to celebrate the real reason we have Christmas. It's a very special time to have my grown children with me to honor Jesus.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tradition is going to church on Christmas Eve and seeing he granddaughters in the Christmas program.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Marianne - looks like a fabulous cartridge!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
One thing my husband and I decided was that Christmas morning was always for us to celebrate....it was our time. It cut down on the hassle of each inlaw expectations of us joining them Christmas morning. Thanks for the chance to win your giveaway. Merry Christmas and thanks for all you share with us.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tradition is Christmas Eve dinner. My family is from Poland and it is a very special celebration and meal.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite Christmas traditions is putting out our Nativity set the day after Thanksgiving but hiding the baby Jesus for my son to find on Christmas morning.
ReplyDeleteAs I empty all my "hiding spots" I always find gifts I have bought months ago. Then I find myself wrapping, decorating boxes and bags, looking for more ribbon and making more bows. I usually am still wrapping a couple of special gifts on Christmas Eve, and remembering the real meaning of Christmas!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite traditions is that we buy a new ornament each year for each person that we celebrate with. We always try to have an extra one or two for unexpected guests...Which leads to a another Christmas tradition.. Merry Christmas everyone.. and best of luck.
ReplyDeleteYes all done shopping! Favorite tradition is driving through town to see all the Christmas lights with the kids.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to comment and perhaps win a prize! I usually finish my shopping before Thanksgiving - so that I can avoid crowds and focus on family and the wonderful Christmas themed displays and things to do in our area. I'm glad I did that this year - because a nasty fall a couple of weeks ago bruised the bone in my knee and I am not able to stand for very long periods and shopping would be out of the question. Thank you for all the great videos throughout the year - and a very Merry Christmas to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteDecorating the tree and adding a new ornament each year. Baking a slew of cookies and other sweets and delivering them to neighbors and friends. It's the little things... Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteOur favorite tradition after decorating the tree is opening the gift from "Santa's Helpers" on Christmas Eve. The present is always new pajamas, but my son the Marine and adult daughter still look forward to that tradition and will give me the devil if they don't see that box from Santa's Helpers for them under our tree
ReplyDeleteOur favorite tradition is having my family over for gifts and food and of course making hay stacks for my honey
ReplyDeleteOur favorite tradition is decorating Christmas cookies together and now we get to include the grandchildren!! We make it a family event putting up the tree!!
ReplyDeleteAnything Cricut rocks. Debbie from Richmond, VA
ReplyDeleteWe have our big dinner on Christmas Eve. This way on Christmas day we do not miss anyone opening their gifts. Merry Christmas to everyone in the Obsessed with Scrapbooking Family.
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy being together as a family with all the grandchildren. Huge Christmas Lunch, then we had pizza, huge veggie tray, cheese ball and fresh fruit kabobs our granddaughters made. Then we had family game time, and the grands played carols on some antique brass bells. It was so beautiful. Lots of pictures for future scrap booking!
