Cricut Paper Trimmings Vase and Michaels Coupon

Thursday, October 27, 2011

Today's project uses the new Cricut Paper Trimmings cartridge, a Cricut Circle exclusive cartridge.  I cut the border and icon features.  Remember, though, lots of cartridges have intricate borders so this could be reproduced using those.
I started with a vase from Walmart (under $4) and some black and white Cricut Vinyl.  Here are the instructions:

  1. Using Cricut Paper Trimmings cartridge, cut Fleur1 border two times using black vinyl.  Weed vinyl.  Cut into smaller sections and adhere around glass vase.
  2. Cut Fleur1 at 2” in white vinyl 3 times and Fleur1-s at 2” in black vinyl 3 times.  Layer pieces together to form 3 images.  Adhere around glass vase as shown.

I will tell you that it is really hard to get the borders lined up straight, due to the curvature of the glass.  However, also due to the curvature of the glass, it is hard to see the imperfections.  It is very important to cut the border sections down into 3-4" lines so as to make the whole process easier.

Finally, Michaels has a 20% everything coupon, good through Friday.  I love fall - the coupons always rock!

Joy-I just love this project. I had to chuckle when you talked about getting placement with the curvature of the vase. Just yesterday I used black vinyl to cut some Halloween images to place on an orange bowl that I will be taking to a potluck. I had the same problem trying to go around the bowl with my cuts and found that the imperfections weren't very easy to see since it went around the bowl.
