Go Green with new Cricut Heirloom Imagine Cartridge!

Friday, February 18, 2011

This 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" card seemed so easy to make at first...I used the Give A Hoot cartridge in combination with the new Cricut Imagine Heirloom cartridge and Imagine machine to cut out the background striped paper, the "go green", shamrock and layered top note shape.  The cuts were as follows:

1) Top note shape (pre-loaded on the Imagine):  3" and 3.3"
2) "Go Green" from Give A Hoot: 2"
3) Shamrock from Give A Hoot:  2"

Warning:  true confession time!

Now, at first, when I started assembling the card, I used this chocolate brown ribbon.  I liked it until the photographed it.  Then, I thought it was too harsh.  So, I pried the card apart and then added green satin ribbon and bow.

Aahh, much better!

I decorated the inside with another strip of printed paper from the Heirloom cartridge and a super cute sentiment from My Creative Time's "I Believe in Leprechauns" stamp set. I love her creative sentiments!

Finally, to add some dimension to the "Go Green" label, I pop dotted it onto another top note base in brown, to make a layered sticker.

Which do you like better?  Brown ribbon or green ribbon?

maybe it's just me but i like both ribbons. THey just make you focus at different points of the card..so it depends on what you're going for. The green makes you focus on the words more and the brown makes you notice the edges and other parts of the card. I like it both ways.

Yes, I like the green ribbon better too but I think had the brown been of a softer shade, say more like the Go Green medallion, it would have looked just fine. The chocolate was just too dark. Love the design though!

Definitely the green ribbon. Don't you hate it when you get to the end of a project and decide it doesn't have the right look and then you have to pry it apart. I've ruined some cards doing that. That paper from the new Imagine paper cartridge is just gorgeous. I may have to break down and get that one. I just have to figure a way to sneak it by hubby, who's put me on a strict supply budget.

The green really matches better but the brown adds a nice contrast. Remember there is no right or wrong in papercrafting design. Green would be better for a female recipient while I think brown would be better for a male.
