Quickly Search Your Cricut Cartridges!

Thursday, September 23, 2010

Heard about this great site that allows you to search your Cricut cartridges quickly and easily!  It's called Cricut Search!  The best part is that the page from the cartridge comes up, with the page number, for easy reference.  Check it out below:

So, I want to see what cartridges have a "pumpkin" on them so I type pumpkin in the search box:

Then, this is the result:

You can click on any of these images to see the pages larger - so handy!

Now, I know you can search on your Gypsy or Design Studio, but this is a tool for those of us who don't want to pull those things out.  Something for everyone.

Now, one downside was that it had trouble finding things like "scalloped circle", which may be due to how the terminology was figured out in the coding.  EDITED TO ADD:  I corresponded with the founder of this site and she clarified that "scallop circle" will work, but not "scalloped circle".  Alternate names for things are being worked on.  This is a tremendous undertaking and I love how much is in the database right now!

Still, don't write the site off due to that because it really is very powerful and helpful!  I LOVE how you can see the full page in the handbook, as sometimes other images on the pages are useful to know about, especially in the case of the "pumpkin".  I saw all kinds of word art and related images that I had forgotten about.

Check out Cricut Search for more information and have fun finding your favorite images!

That is awesome! Thank you so much for the link! I'm forever pouring over the back of my carts :)

I'm going over to check it out right now! I am always driving myself crazy trying to find a particular image, and I don't think my design studio does a very good job. Thanks for the tip!

I visited this site a few days ago and think it is wonderful. With the design studio or the gypsy the images are too small to see the real detail of an image unless you place it on the mat but with this it is so clear.

This sounded too good to be true, but I went to check it out and it IS true!! It's not 100%, but so much better than going through my booklets or DS to figure out where something is. Wow!! Thank you SO much for sharing this link. I'm loving it already - after just a few minutes of "testing"!!

I do really like this the other day I was looking for a reindeer because I was making a card. I put in reindeer and it was just too cool although most of the ones that showed up I didn't have those carts but it was still cool but I did find one that I did have that cart. I love this site. Thanks so much for sharing and for the chance to win!

Wow, this would be very helpful to anyone who didn't have a Gypsy or DS! Great find Joy!

Is there a way to save the cartridges you own and only search those? That would be helpful for those of us who don't have a ton of them!

Suz said...

Isn't that site the best? I found it the other day and thought it was too good to be true!

Shawn Mosch said...

I just wanted to thank you for blogging about our site.

Hi, I am the Mom from the family that created CricutSearch.com

Someone asked if there is a way to save cartridges you own and search only those . . . stay tuned . . . we are working on it. This whole website was created by one family, and I needed to give my hubby a little break so he could focus on his day job again. But don't worry, I will have him back to work on all of the new features to come.

We have a Facebook page that you can join and we will keep everyone updated there on the new features.

Oh . . . if there is something you think I missed, like scalloped circle, let me know. A lot of it is the search terms I entered. I bet if you search the words scallop circle you will get better results instead of "scalloped" but if more people use scalloped, I can add that too!

Oh this is great!! I don't have a gypsy or Design Studio either and when I can squeeze a few minutes in to scrapbook, I sometimes just ignore my Cricut because I don't have time to look for what I want. Thank you!!!

I recently heard about this search site and think it's the best thing ever to hit the Cricut community! Someone took the time to type up a database that worked in a similar manner, and I printed it out so I'd have easy access to the info. But every time new carts were added, I had to reprint the sheets. This will be so much more convenient! Wish I knew who to thank for creating that site for us.

WOw!! This is way cool so many times I opt out of pulling out my gypsy and look at my boxes (which is a terrible as all images are not on the box per say).

I will thoroughly enjoy using this thank you for telling us about it!

Capadia had featured this sight about a week ago and it has become my favorite go to site. It has so many more responses to searches than DS. I love this site. Oh and the "Mom" in charge is quick to respond if you ask a question and welcomes suggestions. Love it!

This is a wonderful site. I've had it bookmarked since it first came out and it is so slick! As a matter of fact I just used it this morning when someone asked me what cart a particular cut came from. I wasn't home, so quickly looked it up here in 5 seconds. Best seach tool to date - the keywords on DS or horrible - this replaces that and so much more!

This is so exciting and helpful! When you "collect" carts and it gets impossible to remember if and where that certain cut exists. Whoever did this is AMAZING! Thank you so much.

thanks for this info. it's sure a great tool. i always scrapbook with my pc on all the time so this definetly helps a lot for me.

Since i got my gypsy, i have not open any of my handbook yet, gypsy does most of all, but seriously, this tool makes me search easier and can show colored item, which will be easier to visualize the project i want to make (I admit, sometimes i get so overwhelmed so i ended up not having to finish even one project coz i forgot how to lay them together) but having to search faster plus seing the handbook upfront on my computer screen... that's definitely a winner...thanks so much for all the info and ideas that you are sharing.
